I recently traded with a Bruery reserve member for one. Awesome guy, he traded it to me for Darkness and some other Surly IPAs, and New Glarus fruit beer.

I would recommend trading for locals more before trying for some of the bigger beers.

I'm doing a trade that's Chocolate Rain and Melange 3 for $70 in Westbrook shelf beers, including 3 Mexican Cakes. Probably not that helpful given your location but it does show there are good traders out there who aren't ransoming these for limited releases only.

yeah i mean i do have stuff like bcbs, kbs, parabola etc just don't wanna offer a ridiculous amount, figured i'd ask before tossing up an ISO:FT trade

The tough thing with trading for something like Chocolate Rain using the beers you mention is that if you aren't offering something rare/really limited (HF bottles, these new Toppling Goliath beers everything is gaga over, etc.) but rather just good limited seasonals (such as BCBS, KBS, etc.), you can (and should) expect to have to go $4$ with it. This means shipping out a large quantity of smaller cheaper bottles such as the ones mentioned to get to $40.

I doubt Parabola would get much interest simply because most people interested in trading Chocolate Rain probably have easier access to it.

become friends with a reserve society member or someone who has a chocolate rain, they aren't gonna drink that whole bottle themselves.

I had a BM from a guy who had CR and he stated it would take $40 worth of beer in return. So he was willing to do $4$ on it obviously, he may be the exception though. It's something I can live without right now so I passed.

That will land you White Chocolate, but probably not Black Tuesday, and definitely not Chocolate Rain.

If I were you I'd start with White Chocolate, kill your partner with extras, build up your stash a bit, and then see if that same partner has any extra BT or CR for reasonable trade next year.

I recently traded a BA Roosevelt, 10.10.10, Gates of Hell and a 6pk of Jai Alai for BT, CR and WC.
That was the main trade then I got some Lost Abbey for CCB locals.

None of those usually trade for what they are worth to me (I really enjoy them all), so I send a few out to a few people and drink most of the rest.

You should be able to get most of them, cr being the toughest. I would wait on the wc/bt though, I imagine the new batches will make them a bit more accessible.

Another solution: join preservation society. I imagine both wc and bt will be preservation beers for the last two quarters of the year resp. (I am only speculating though, who knows for sure).
