I recently came into a few of these and want to see what other Midwest lovelies can be traded for them. It's a thick delicious CC Imperial Stout that came out last year, and may or may not come out this year

I was thinking along the lines of: KBS, BCBS, BCBCS, KH, CBS.

I think Zhukov could fetch some KBS and BCBS straight up, but you would probably have to add on your end for BCBCS. And definitely need to add for KH and CBS– won't be 1:1.

Not sure how the others on here feel, but I wouldn't trade a CBS for a Zhukov. I mean I can wait until the end of summer, and buy Zhukov online. I can't do that with CBS. Just my thoughts.

Who said it wouldn't come out this year? Honestly, the way the midwest has been lately, I doubt any of your listed beers would head your way. Maybe a bottle of KBS, one bottle. All the GI beers required you to really be lucky, or drive all over three states to find a couple bottles. Zhukov is a shelf beer, and I think year around in many parts.

That being said, it's a good beer. I think some more reasonable options would be:

    2 Plead the 5th
1 BBA Plead the 5th (to the right person, it's a geography thing)
4pk Founder's impy stout (maybe toss a couple Jai Alai's in on your end)
    2-3 Central Waters BBA Stout
    1 Abyss

I don't know, I mean CC's distro only reaches six states at the moment, so I would think that most Midwest states can't easily get it (unless they go the eBay route), but that being said, couldn't the same thing be done for the Founders/GI stuff as well?

CC's distro might only be 6 states, but that doesn't make it "limited". And you don't have to go the Bay route to get Zhukov online. And yes, you could Bay for Founder's/GI, but you'd be paying handsomely. Although, based on my latest research, some folks are asking for nearly Bay prices in beer for their midwest goodies, but that's the market right now. If you can get your hands on those breweries, then you can (not saying everybody does) really get into somebody balls deep.

If you're looking for the beers you first listed, then do a search in the forums to see what the going rate is. Also, you can simply post your request in the ISO:FT section, and you'll find out quickly whether you're off.

it's not hard enough to acquire for most people to give up most of the in demand beers you name. trying to argue this into not being the case will do exactly nothing.

that said, you can always throw up an ISO and find out for yourself (AKA what you probably should have done in the first place). no matter what the demand for it is, you shouldnt trade if you're not getting enough to be personally satisfied.

I had no problem pulling $4$ trades for BCS, BCBCS, and KBS with Zhukov this year (and previous years, too). And Zhukov is pretty much gone for the year at this point; it's definitely not near-year-round any longer like it used to be. Too many people have heard about it by now. KH might've happened when it first came out but now they're pretty tough to land for some reason, and CBS was always a longshot (I'd think, anyway).

(To be honest, I should throw in the disclaimer that I've been offering Zhukov in my FT's lately, so take my comments with a grain of salt. Not trying to hype, but just giving my perspective.)

Didn't realize that MH had taken the same route as the rest. Nonetheless, I am surprised at your success.

    See OP, post that shit!

The things people traded for Zhukov immediately after it was released last year amazed me. I bought 6 of them online about three months after the release and have been mostly throwing them in as extras.

Zhukov is an awesome beer. As far as distribution, CCB does distribute to a few states, but MZ's distribution is fairly limited. I would even say most bottles shops in the Tampa area (where I live) don't carry it. I posted this before, but it has something to do with the distributor not putting a cap on the number of cases a single store can buy, so a couple stores grab it all up. Thus only a few places have it, but those who do have it for many months.

Anyway, to your OP. Trades I was able to land based around MZ this year: Parabola, Westy 12 (twice), Westy 8, BB4D, 4 pack of KBS, Fantome Saison, Sucaba, and Surly Darkness. Mind you, many of these trades I included other nice offerings, but they were all based around MZ.

As far as CBS, I'd say you have almost no chance. People seem to trade CBS like a whale, and I've started multiple threads trying to land one going significantly over $4$, and including MZ and other harder to get beers and have not had a single bite on any of them.

I'm quite surprised at what people are reporting having landed with Zhukov. I've seen it for sale online plenty, and it seems to flow around like water in BIF boxes and as extras. Westy? Darkness? Really surprised at those...

I recently did a 2010 Zhukov for a Grimm Bros. The Count. Both parties are happy

Being from Florida, I can tell you first hand that Zhukov isn't very easy to come by and certainly not a shelf beer. It will come in when it's released and be on the shelf for just a few days before being gone. The very few stores that get large allotments(i.e. Leuken's Liquors) have it for so long because they don't get a lot of foot traffic for beer, but they have a great relationship with the distributor. They happen to sell online so it seems like it's just "that easy to get" but it isn't unless you live around the corner from that shop(I'm about 4 hours away from Leuken's)

Where, besides Leuken's, have you seen it for sale online? I'm just curious on that one, as I'd like to be able to walk in and get more than a couple of bottles come release time.

They were out as of a few weeks ago... dammit. Haven't seen it anywhere else lately, and I've been looking. But then again, it's only three or four months until the next release.

Has the 2012 version been released yet? I bought these in August or September last year...
