What AC or HS stouts would close a BA tiramisu?

That's a good call. I did think I was lucky to win a ticket, but I also thought there were probably a couple of thousand bottles that would be made available via lottery. I was basing my 'trade value' of Ann on that.

In either case, I am very happy to have won and will not be trading my bottle. This will likely be my only time I'll get a chance to have it so I'm excited by both being able to obtain it and visit Hill Farmstead again. The only time I've been there was approximately two and a half years ago, and I was impressed with both the beers and the establishment itself.

Hi all, been a long time since I've been active in the beer trading world, last trade was back in 2010. I started drinking beer again after a long, long, long break. I was looking at my cellar recently and found that I'm partial to sours, lambics, etc., which is what I was drinking before my break. I have a ton of stuff from the 2005 - 2011, mostly stouts, barleywines, strong ales, etc. I'm looking to try to get some of the harder to get sours out there in exchange for some of my vintage stouts, etc. I have quite a few bottles of each of the following from this year range (2005-2011) : East End Gratitude, Sexual Chocolate, a bunch of Lost Abbey (I was Sinner Club member), The Abyss, Dark Lord, etc. I'm looking to try to trade for : Cable Car, Duck Duck Gooze, JK Atrial, JK Montemorency V Balaton, etc. Let me know if this is within reason or if I'm out of line, being out of the game so long, I may not know what I'm talking about. Thanks in advance !

Without losingl some items be hard for anyone to gauge what you could trade for

East End or Sinners Club stuff might get you MvB or some other JK bottles, but you'd need some stronger stuff for Cable Car, DDG, or Atrial.

Thanks for the reply, I thought a 2005 or 2006 Gratitude would still have serious trading power, things have changed. Thanks again !

Possibly. Didn't know you had that kind of vintage. Think then it comes down to awareness. Not a lot of people with new hype are familiar with East End

I don't really have a specific trade in mind, nor do I know much about the value of mead at all. I do know Pips is one of the big ones and trades well from what I've seen. I'm going to have a set of the release happening this weekend available for trade. It's Maplefoam (KBBS barrel aged) - 187ml and Cali Cotton - 375ml. A friend and I are looking to move this to get a bigger bottle(s). Preferably a BA stout or Barleywine to bring to DLD and share.

I know this thread isn't for trying to turn things into an auction, but I'm really out of my league here and just looking for some advice as to what might be reasonable. When I say out of my league, I'm not really a whale trader, and definitely haven't worked with mead before. My buddy said he's seen people offer BA Abraxas and Annabasis for Pip's Apple Turnover 187ml. Seems crazy to me, but what do I know.

If this isn't the place for this, understood. Thanks for any expertise and insight you can provide.

He said BA Coconut Vibes--not Coffee Shop--big difference.

And, to satisfy my curiosity, what non-adjunct BA stouts impress you, if BBT2 does not?

I, too, meant Coco. My bad the abbreviation wasn't right proper.

BBT has no nuance or complexity. It's an exercise in booze overload. Hey it's a big beer and that's not entirely unexpected. Reminds me very much of Jackie O's--a lot of people like it, but they aim more for the flavor and feel of bourbon as opposed to marrying beer and barrel more subtly and deftly.

I'm not interested in going down the massive list of non-adjunct ba stouts I believe are far superior to BBT, but the most recent ones I've had would be Term Oil or Cigar City's completely unhyped Yes, Always. Hell, CCB's clean ba beers in general are almost always far superior to SP's clean ba beers. They're really second to none--the hype isn't there anymore, but the skill absolutely is. Kane's ba stouts, particularly ANTEAD, both regular and Rye. I even enjoyed AC's Grand Cru more, although the vanilla barrel might disqualify it in my book, it technically doesn't.

Kane's 2557 blew my mind but the latest ANTEAD did not. Need to track down some of these CCB's now

To be fair, there is a FT: BBT b1 + BBT b2 ISO: Ann in the NE trades forum which isn’t getting interest. Also a full 12:1 Cantillon set which also isn’t closing. Those are far bigger offers than I expected to see. I’m not sure BA Coconut Vibes makes much of a difference.

This is from someone who wouldn’t trade his BBT b2 for anything.

CCB isn't hard to get ahold of, they make plenty of ba beer, trading for El Catador is always good advice lately, but lots just comes out of the taproom here and there, no fanfare.

Agreed, that was a stunner. At a recent BA stout party here in Portland, it and Fremont's coconut Bbomb were the stars of the show (against some very stiff competition). I'm accustomed to outstanding BA stouts from Kane, but even so, the 2557 was an eye opener.
