You're going to have a hard time overcoming that retail price difference. I'm thinking you'd at least need to add a FO b5, but my two cents.

It looks like it's the other way around, I think he has the black Agnes . But your saying he should ask for more but that's assuming hes looking to go $4$. Maybe some more info.

You're correct. I definitely assumed that he has the NC and was looking for Black Agnes 750 which might not be the case. If it is the other way around then I think he should be asking for a FO b5 too. If he wants to do a BA 750 for NC I would think it would close pretty quickly.

While it is still warm out, considering trying to trade for a few IPAs that I have not had the chance to experience. Seems like treehouse is pretty easy to obtain at $4$ (and now I just need to figure out which cans would match my flavor preference/palate), but others I am not very aware of.

    Monkish for example.

Always wanted to try, but no idea relative cost. Can I find these at $4$? Not looking for anything rare, just looking to try 6-10 cans of monkish that are not too bitter. Otherwise, don’t really care what they are.

I think you have to be more specific about what you intend to trade. $4$ is typically the language of those cans, but it takes more than "random hop cans" to garner interest for your ISO outside of maybe some of the less desirable rotation Tree House. And the "limited" TH used to take more to get, if that's what you're looking for, but I don't know if that's changed recently with what seems like a policy of always having something along those lines on the menu.

Thanks. Not looking for anything limited, just your run of the mill everyday standard offerings. Julius for sure. Outside of that, I said i’d have to check about flavor because a friend or two mentioned there were a couple they figured would just not be my thing. Don’t remember why, I just seem to recall that - maybe it was alter ego? - they said it just probably would not be for me.

Once I have an idea in mind, I’ll probably put it here before I post it there. Just wanted to make sure I wasn’t crazy. I still won’t trade actual limited beers for “vanilla” treehouse at $4$. That is bananas to me.

I have done multiple trades of BA Darkness for cans of treehouse as an example. I have never tried for Monkish. It seems to me you might have to go a little bigger for those Cali hyped beers.

My cellar is nearly depleted. Im thinking of a quality for quantity offer. What would something like a BAA or Maman for TreeHouse ratio look like? I know it depends on which cans, but direction ally what's reasonable?

    Thanks!

Yes indeedy, Monkish IPAs are one of those 'hoarded for trading' beers. They are released 1x-2x per week with 'day of' notification, generally a couple of hours before opening. Depending on the beer's release and its hype levels, the lines can be in the hundreds. For reals.

But the beer is mighty fine. They have a real affinity for blending hops, easily one of the top five IPA brewers IMO.

Pro tip: I don't like lines and don't bother with the highly-sought cans. Monkish sells one liter flip-top growlers {but no crowlers) that fit nicely in styro shippers which I send to my trading pards on occasion.

What's your experience with shipping those? I always thought they would spew and haven't took the plunge in shipping them. I might give it a shot, if you haven't had issues.

Not sure if they are the same style, but I used to send Hill Farmstead 750 swing top growlers all the time. Never had an issue. I also brought some to Europe in my checked luggage without issue.

I've sent these to Europe. too.

    1) Make sure the flip-top is not loose in any way.
    2) Wrap duct tape around the flip-top mechanism.
    3) Put each bottle in a large zip-lock
    4) Put the styro insert in a trash bag, seal the bag once you put it inside the shipping box.

Then relax, it's only beer. And unlike the cans, the growler fills are always available.

As long as you tape the top you're good. I've done this many times before. Ship it the same as you were shipping a bottle, no need for extra padding then usual. Every time I've gone to monkish I always pick up some growlers as they never have cans when I go. I'm always up for monkish growlers if you need anything from the bay area.:beers:

Lately, in my experience, treehouse and monkish have been easier to get which is generally good for everyone. I feel like it's harder on ba to trade for monkish but way easier on a app that ends in gram. However treehouse, the regular stuff, isn't to hard to find they make a ton of the regular stuff anyways.

Personally, have only had one Monkish beer (Fairfax and Olympic?), and thought it quite good. The can was gifted to me by a generous BA who I did a Great Notion favor for. Definitely a nice IPA that I was very happy to try.

Would I stand in line with hundreds of others for hours to get some? No.

Would I trade $4$ to get some? Probably. It was a very nice IPA, but I didn't think it was unique (there are plenty of IPA's just as good where I live IMHO), and trading/shipping is an expensive hassle.

Would I pay a premium to obtain some cans (more than $4$). No.

I've traded for treehouse more than once. I don't feel like it's as good as it used to be but still worth trading for. Green would be my least favorite with haze being my favorite and Julius a close second. I feel Julius though is the one that has lost its magic the most. Monkish is more challenging to land but that is indeed because of how it's released in person. Modern times has stepped up their haze game almost at the monkish level at times. Would recommend trading for Electric cans if you like oats in your hazies. Was quite impressed with their offerings

    Are you trolling bro? haha.

You can get tree house, without giving up those big beers. But it's your beer, good luck !
