Trade Value Thread (2019)

I thought the BA trade forum was a free market.

If someone has a THH or GTS and wants BBT3 this seems like a reasonable transaction. Similarly if someone has PVW 23 and wants 1 BBT3 because of scarcity or because no one is trading BBT3 then this also seems like a reasonable transaction. The free market dictates what the BBT3 is worth, not 1 person. This 1 person does not have a monopoly on all BBT3. However, if this person acquires 20 bottles of BBT3 through their own trades then they have a right to value their BBT3 at whatever they like. If people are willing to pay what this person is charging then that reflects supply & demand within a free market.

Particularly when dealing with scarce goods ("whales") and fluid secondary and trade values it is obvious that values while rise and fall. Each trade reflects value within a free market. Especially with something as fluid as beer secondary value or trade value this becomes even trickier to predict. Over time some beer value declines (CBS because of increased supply) and others increase (SR71 because of decreased supply).

I appreciate the role of the moderators who help in this TVT forum. It is not easy to predict current fair market values for trades. I think it is a very hard job to keep up with what beers are trading for. This is why most people, including myself, use the resources in this forum to gauge fair market values.

However, I think it is wrong for moderators in this forum to say what a beer should or should not be worth. This determination comes from the people who are trading. This is why I don't believe any single trade is a "rip off" or "unfair trade" as is often labeled in the completed trades forum. Again, it is a hard job to predict what a beer is worth in real time, but this is obviously subject to change.

 

I see lots of trades ISO Assassin 19but very few for Assassin 18. Is there a noticeable difference between Assassin 18 and Assassin 19? Would these trade 1:1?

 

Yes they are completely different. Anyone who has had both, would not trade them 1:1. The '19 is a much better beer.

Honestly not sure. Value wise they are not far apart, but people with ‘19’s are also likely to have tried ‘18 already.

 

Small plus. Also taste varies. I felt at assassin 19, 18 was much better than 19, but then at X 19 had improved. 18 was more chocolate fudge up front which I like and still fee 18 is better in my opinion.

 

Normally you would be correct....but you obviously you have not traded on FB. Dude single handedly raised the value of BBT b2, and most recently Black Magick. He has memes made after him.

Shit, I'd do the same thing if I had access to the bourbon he has. And from what I've recently seen most big bottles only sell or trade for big bourbon bottles.

And maybe he doesn't have a monopoly on BBT b3...yet. But he will soon.

Would these be fair trades? I am the Tete + FdF side. I have not seen a lot of Tete moving these days. Also not sure how many people have LPK & 50N that want to move them in the same trade....
