I think you may be able to do Prop 14 for 18 Assassin but not 19. You would have to add for 19. You would definitely have to add for any vintage prior to 18 also. Good luck.

closed BAA 19 for my HF Aaron and CD25. I’ve seen the sale value go for less than that though

Adjunct and IGCCS are around the same, probably each a little less than half of BAA. Would be easier to quantify the value with numbers but trying to stay within the rules haha

1: B3K got decent west coast distro but it’s a really good barleywine. Someone that loves the style would definitely at least trade you some hops $4$ for it. BBomb could maybe net the same

2: How short depends on which assassin year, but you’d be short regardless. You’d need a small plus to get to 2018 assassin, and a bigger one for the other ones

3: Depends on which batch of ADWTD. One of the bottles from the box set you could probably get a plus on their side, you’d be close to 1:1 with DO, with the DO being an average NEIPA 4 pack higher in value. You’d need 2 or 3 prop 14’s value for TO, and 5+ for B3 bourbon barrel aged. King Henry is a touch higher in value than ADWTD DO

I closed on one recently. Sent out an Elmer T Lee and a bottle of garagiste mead for one. Overpay on my side but I’ve noticed I’ve had to do that for the higher value stouts since most of the movement on them are straight sales

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. I ended up doing the ADWTD DO for the prop 1:1. And also good info on the Fremonts.

Michter’s Toasted to Maman 19 or DB BCBS? The same for Michter’s 10? Don’t dabble much in trading bourbon so please fill me in, thanks!

Assuming bourbon, not rye on the Michter's? The michter's rye tend to trade and sell above their bourbon counterparts.

Need about two toasted for Maman 19 - but the bourbon side could ask for a small plus. Toasted slightly short for a db BCBS, bourbon side would need to add a small plus.

For the 10, bourbon could ask for a plus due to bourbon tax on the DB BCBS. It could go 1:1 with Maman 19, but I think bourbon side will need a small plus.

Yes, bourbon. And thanks, those explanations are very helpful.

One more follow up on my Assassin question. Any reason why 18 doesn't trade as high as other years? Did it have a significantly higher bottle count - or is it a quality thing?

Majority of people just like other years more, so not really a quality thing. I also do not think it has anything to do with higher bottle count

Opinions obviously differ, but most people agree ‘18 just isn’t as good as the others. I’ve only had ‘18 and ‘19, but found ‘19 to be an amazing beer and ‘18 to just be a solid stout.

It’s this. 18 wasn’t considered as good as previous because 18 was literally chocolate brownie batter in consistency and taste

I'm not sure about bottle counts, but if I'm not mistaken, 18 was a 2 pp release and 19 was a 1 pp release, and I do believe that has had an effect on the perceived value of each. Having said that, I've recently had a 14, 16, 18 and 19 Assassin, and (obviously just my opinion), I thought 19 and 14 were the 2 best, but I thought 18 was just barely behind with 16 being my least favorite of the 4. Take that for what it's worth.

This is only true for some people. Many people thought it was thin by comparison, and more dark fruit forward than some other years.

I say this for a couple reasons. (1) I’ve read this many times over, but (2) having the consistency of browny batter and tasting as such would actually sound quite appealing to many individuals seeking it out. So, just trying to offer a different perspective on taste and consistency that ultimately has left some less interested in seeking it out than seeking out another year.

Also, It’s not a bad beer by any means. It’s just a comparison between years. Many people had similar feelings about Purple Assassin.

Will a bottle of Modern Times Ultra Vanilla be able to get Maman 19?

I know the Ultra set goes for ridiculous numbers, but not sure about them individually.

Probably get you there if not a small plus on the MT side. The ultra coconut would absolutely pull the maman

Looking to get a bottle of high end whiskey for my fathers retirement a couple months down the road. Curious what I’ll need to land, say, a bottle of pappy lot b?

Unless you give someone an idea on what bottles you have they can't really answer your question. I can tell you that one of the last trades I've seen land a Lot B is a W12 1L + BBT b3, but have no idea if you have bottles of similar value.

Yeah, I should’ve added bottles I have to trade for. I didn’t even think of that. Butttt, based on your response I’m no where near the ammo needed to land it lol
