You wouldn't put Kane's best "near" the Magick's?

The only part of that I agree with is trade value, which is what this thread is for. So yes, in that regard, absolutely, Magick's trade value is very high, thanks, at least in part, to Voodoo selling them for on-site consumption for up to $250.

Thankfully, Kane aren't shitlords like that. But, Kane's best? Some of the best beers I've ever had. Can't say that for any beer I've had by Voodoo. Just this past year, ANTEAD Coconut Vanilla Coffee and 2922 shot near my tops all time. Plus their anny quads, barleywines and strong ales are stellar. All of which are far greater experiences over anything I've had by Voodoo. Not to mention, Voodoo's barleywine game is sorely lacking.

It's saying something that GNVP - Whiskey Tawny Porto is my highest regarded Voodoo beer, since that series is so divisive already.

I thought 4 Roses Black Magick was hot garbage. The K13s I've had have been just all right. And I can't leave out the exalted MBP, which I had a few years ago. It was a disappointment even then, and being arguably the root of all their hype to begin with, it makes for a poor first impression.

I've had other BA tasters by them I didn't feel right rating, but suffice it to say, nothing ever hit for me. My highest rated beer by them is an NE IPA...lol.

Hot garbage is great, though  But really, I've only had Hot Garbage DO and Rye Zangief, both of which were excellent. I enjoyed zangief more than rye ANTEAD. Haven't had the most recent Kane anniversary beers (but I had the 25xx series and liked them)...I'll have to track them down.

Haha I forgot they actually named a beer Hot Garbage. I actually enjoyed that they were a little self-deprecating there. Never tried it though, and I do actually want to try Zangief, again, moreso because of the name than anything. But I've given them so many chances, I heavily temper my expectations now.

Sorry, I think we're both probably guilty of hyperbole in the thread and generally agree. I would put Coconut ANTEAD up there in the same realm even if i probably prefer Magick, along with some Anny stuff. I wouldn't put BA Brunches up there, which I've found to be a little underwhelming. And I consider myself to be the #1 fan of Kane's barleywine game, so you don't have to do any convincing there. Likely popping a Rye OP tonight. Cheers.

Edit: Hmm I also have a Porto Zang in the front of my fridge that needs opening as well, might report back later this weekend to make sure this thread doesn't get back on the rails.

Sorry to derail the Kane vs voodoo thread :joy:

Now on to business, is there any real trade value anymore for darkness or BA darkness? I don’t see these bottles move much anymore, wondering if that’s due to them being in distro now or if there’s something else at play here

I would think $4$ at this point. We've had a bunch of BA Darkness on the shelf in West Michigan for over a week now.

What is a realistic ratio (if any) for BCBS Vanilla '18 to DB BCBS?

I would think 4 to 6. 4 being someone who really likes BCBSV

Not so sure. Anyone with a bottle of double barrel had access to vanilla. More of a Venn diagram issue I’d think

Everyone had great access to it, and I have seen people ISO for it

You’re right, but we aren’t talking about the fact that people are ISO BCBVS. I just don’t see 4-6 vanillas landing double barrel. Agree to disagree but they aren’t even in the same ballpark. We’re talking a lottery bottle vs a shelf variant. Regardless how hard it was to find during your BCBS hunt in ‘18, I guarantee you aren’t finding double barrel on any store shelves. But value is driven by demand so in theory, yes, I guess there would have to be a ratio of BCBVS : DB. I just don’t know a realistic ratio.

Having had both there’s no effing way I’d make that

Does anyone have any idea what it would take to score some of CW 2year or 3year barleywine from this year? If I offered a BA vermillion would that get me both? Both with a plus? Really no clue here as I don't see a ton of them traded or even sold. Thanks

Sounds like some Kane needs to be in the blind lineup that I'm offering to bring Voodoo too.

    Not really

I'd be very surprised if you'd be able to find anyone to do this except at some kind of ridiculous ratio

I think you're there. CW just doesn't trade for that high the exception of Ardea if it's still around. 1:1 sounds right

    Coexpressionalism for Coolship Bardus 1:1

Is this at all possible? I'm only asking because I know someone who really wants (needs) a Bardus, and I wasn't able to help him when I had mine. I really want to see this guy get one, and I know he's willing to offer a Coex for it. I got a lot for mine, but hopefully the value has leveled out a bit? Is this at all reasonable?
