Agreed, although it's not a term I hear used like "bourbon tax," there is also a "trading up tax" in my opinion which applies even if you're trading beer for beer. Without a big anchor you're doing some serious trading up and I'm not sure on the exact math but it's something along the lines of:

Beer value = PVW value * bourbon tax ^ trading up tax = too damn much

 

Would DB BCBS fetch Assassin or Barrel Slayer or TG X?

 

Barrel Slayer, yes. Assassin 18, yes, 19, possibly. TG X, no.

Thanks for the help guys - Now a question regarding a big anchor. Are you speaking to a singular bottle big anchor, or multiple bottle big anchor. I was thinking a bottle of Le Sarrasin as the starting place and going from there. Thoughts?

 

Just to give you an idea of the last PVW 15 I saw close. It went for THH '19 + 2 X BBT b3 + BA Tootsie Roll (M&M stout). Not saying you're off, just giving you some data.

thanks for the info - unfortunately having not been active for a long time I’m not sure of any of those. I know what most are, but value isn’t palpable. That’s what I’m trying to gauge! Thank you! I’m going to keep combing through - any and all info is appreciated. I have a month and a half to close it out!

 

I guess to try and quantify it, I assume you need a single bottle anchor that's equal to 3 or 4 VRU by itself.

 

To answer your question, other trades are close to 2.5-3 Le Sarrasin.

 

Are we talking 2.5-3 as an anchor or 2.5-3 total. Because if we’re talking anchor, I’ll just go buy a bottle at my local shop. Lol

 

2.5-3 total (as a guide for value). Le Sarrasin as an anchor is a good start.

They’re each 80-100 AFAIK, with IWAAD being the highest of the 3. I think 2:1 would be closer, maybe with a small plus on the j wake side

 

Had one on Thanksgiving and it was great. Not as good as it was the year prior but surprised me.

 

I originally traded w12 for microcosm 1 and 2. Microcosm 1 was a let down but 2 was amazing. Wouldn’t hesitate to trade for microcosm 2 again.

 

Thats a steal. Micro II is worth around 2 w12's on its own

in theory it should be, but I’ve been having trouble closing a $4$ trade for it.
