To add a data point for you. Albeit, we expanded, I traded a HoG b3 for a D'Aunis '19. The trade is with an individual in Belgium but I am shipping to his proxy CONUS. Additionally, last week, HoG b3 trade 1:1 for Sulla Terra b2. I think your trade should be a fairly even trade 1:1.

Out of curiosity, at what cost? When I travel I look for stuff for my brother in law. He’s not big on Japanese, but I ran into one in rural WV (of all places) at $150 (although I talked them down by 15%, so less). Ohio pricing is mandated at $125, but pricing in other states (at least in 2019) was $100 I believe. So, color me curious!

$150-$200 in my area of GA for for the 12. Never bothered trying to haggle but they told me it moves quick so maybe not. SR is fairly easy to find at MSRP at most of those same stores taxing the bigger bottles.

$112.99 on the VA ABC website which is probably pretty low if I had to guess. They don’t really mark too much stuff up unless it is something pretty rare and even then it’s not too much.

Cheapest I see is $125 from Costco, $150 at total wine , and up to $200 from less desirable places. All OTD

A year ago I got one for $100 OTD at Costco.

Anyone have an idea on where Eunoia B2 is value wise in comparison to bottles like Anabasis, Assassin 20, For Gabe and similar highly sought after stouts and barleywine?

Eunoia is a conundrum - some trades are 400+ but sales have dipped below 300. From the bottles you’ve listed, everything would need a good +, sans the For Gabe which would need an equally solid + on the Eunoia side.

Would a DBBCBS (Double Barrel Bourbon County Brand Stout) get Black Magick Double Oaked + Black Magick 4 Roses?

A friend of mine traded a DBBCBS for a Double Oaked + Early Times a few months ago, which somewhat surprised me since I thought it might take more on his end. But things change all the time.

Nowhere close. The orange wax goes for 7/8 of db bcbcs and the red wax is 1 to 1 if not a plus on the dbbcbs side.

Yamazaki 12 I saw on shelves in Costco months ago limit 2pp $99 a pop in CA. I passed but I saw people grabbing them. It did not get rave reviews by many and seems like an acquired taste and more for the sake of value-commodity thing now. I mean for the sake of trading something that I don't know if it's getting produced again, might be worth anabasis now. Maybe someone can clarify the production of this and other Japanese whiskeys.

Yama 12 is still in production. It comes around every 6 months or so here in Chicagoland. It used to be a $40 bottle. It’s now $120, so $99 is not a bad price. It routinely sells for double that in Japan. Value wise is of course personal opinion. It’s a pretty tasty, smooth, easy drinking whiskey. I like it a lot. Is it worth $100 or more? Really depends on how much you like it, and/or how hard it is to get in your area. When my bottle runs out, I’ll buy another.

As far as trade value, it all comes down to geography. I wouldn’t trade it anything other than $4$ here in Chicagoland, since I know it’ll be back around and won’t be hard to come by. If you live somewhere without good Japanese whiskey distribution, I feel it should trade a little higher.

That said, if you have a Yama 18, that’s a completely different story. That would acquire you many Anabasis. Yama 18 retails for $300+ And again, usually double that in Japan. It’s delicious and maybe the best “regularly” produced Japanese single malt.

Thanks for the clarification. The Hibiki 12 was the one discontinued and is jumping in value. Yama could follow the same road but appreciate the insight. Didn't know the yama 18 was that good. Cheers.

Does Hibiki Harmony carry any trade value to your knowledge?

I'd imagine nothing over cost, it's pretty readily available - more so than others mentioned.

I wouldn’t go more than $4$ on Harmony. It’s readily available here.

Hibiki 12 was discontinued in...2015? Maybe longer ago than that. It’s worth a pretty penny.

you’re overvaluing a bit. DO is closer to 125ish where DB BCBS is 180-200. The 4 roses would probably be 1:1 though

I agree itll trade at 125. Thats about the bottom end of it where it does and 175 is the top end. 4 roses goes 175-225. Db bcbs is 200 all day if not slightly above on occasion. Im not sure what there is to disagree about.
