Trade Value Thread (2024)

New 200mL edition of Pips Blue Suede Shews is about to hit for members. Can a bottle pull any of the following beer from:

Side Project (10 Candles, 10+10, BBT, Bubble Wrap, MJK, OWK, Shin Shin, 10 yr BW, Continuance 10 yr, Reverberant DBA)

Pulpit Rock (BA $ticker $hock, Six, BA Cake Talk, Seven Years in Heaven, Eight)

Forager (Millerzzzz DB, Nillerzzzz DB, Galaxy Otter, Wolf & Otter)

Any hard to get Tree House?

Appreciated any insight that can be shared; first time getting my hands on one of these and want to get something good for it I've never tried.

 

I'm not familiar with what BSS trades for, but just an FYI - Shin Shin was on site draft only - it hasn't been bottled to this point.

As a new member myself I can say that BSS does not trade for what it used to. And if you haven't had it yet I would HIGHLY recommend tasting it before trading it (but that is just one opinion).

As for your list I'd imagine you wouldn't have any issue trading it for any Forager beer that wasn't one of their originals (i.e. Magnus), I don't know a ton about PR but assume that most should be attainable, and for SP "yes" to 10+10, BBT (recent), Bubble Wrap / "maybe" to 10 YW BW, Continuance 10, DBA Reverb / "no" to MJK, OWK, 10 Candles.

 

What is a hard to get TH? Quintet, 12th Anniversary Stout? Any others?

 

That's what I'm asking as I don't know; guess I'd be looking for highly rated beers that are sought after.

 

Do any of the 8th bw have much trade value?

(Excluding neck and neck)

 

It’s been years since I’ve seen an ISO for 8th state, so I’d say that most of their beers have trade value at around cost at this point

Trying to get an idea of what Forager Magnus trades for. I never heard of it before it cracked BA 250. I never see it FT or ISO compared to all the other Forager Pastries.. I know there are two batches of Magnus.

I asked if Arabesque Reserve or Minutiae Reserve 2024 would be good 1:1 and the response was he'd go 1:1 for OG Minutiae Reserve. Is Magnus a very valuable bottle? Can anyone offer their opinion?

 

I don't have much to add here as I haven't traded for it / seen it moving in any trades. I will add that I had it on site last December and it's well worth acquiring - it was delicious. My opinion isn't worth much, but if someone is asking for OG Minutiae Reserve, I would assume they're offering OG Magnus and not the 2023 vintage? If it's the newer bottle, IMO, I think OG Minutiae reserve seems a bit high.

 

Does a bottle of BSS & BABSS get me to MJK/OWK/10 Candles or am I still short?

 

Pretty sure you'd be short on all. MJK b2 I think is the lowest of the 3 and I think possibly the only attainable one with those bottles. You might be able to land it with Snake in the Rye, BA BSS, and 2 x BSS (200 ml or 1 375 ml), but I also am not the most up to date on values.

I’m discussing a trade for my Mortalis DB Pear Brandy Leto copper wax for a SP 10yr barleywine, P3 Arabesque Reserve, and EQ BA Fall From Grace.

Anything look lopsided?

Beeping the horn. LOL! Anyone have input about DB Pear Leto for SP 10 yr BW, P3 Arabesque Reserve, and an EQ BA Fall From Grace? I see the SP trade a bunch but the P3 and EQ seem to linger. Thanks in advance!

 

I didn’t respond previously because I’m not sure on all their trade values.
10 Year Barleywine may be the best beer I’ve ever had. Even better than other SP standouts like mjk/owk.
So I’m likely biased but I wouldn’t lump 10 Year in with any lot for trade.

 

The 10year barleywine doesn't trade often and would think that + should land the DB pear. Maybe DB Pear adds something to even out. But I'm a biased SP fan

 

My 2 cents...If you can get the SP 10 year BW AND a P3 Arabesque Reserve AND a plus for the DB Pear Leto, I think this is a win/win for everyone involved.

I am a little biased as I am a barleywine fanboi and SP 10 year is an all-timer for me...but, if it was me, I wouldn't hesitate to make this trade! Ha!
