I don't have any crazy heavy hitters, but looking to try Assassin for the first time. Is my offer way off????
HF BA Dorothy b2+SP Blended 2017+Cantillon St. Lam 2014 for Assassin 18
Am I needing to add a ton, or am I just never going to get it done with those?

Tough trade because they are both St.Louis beers. Maybe if you added a solid stout it would get done.

You are pretty close i'd think--certainly another cantillon seasonal should get that done easy and you'd probably have luck with adding another more limited run HF or SP too

As an additional comment, I always expect that if I or someone else will be trading up, that there is an expectation that you'll have to go "over" by some percentage. The rarity of the bottle I think dictates this more than the actual value of the beer in question. So, for example, if you were trying to land an Assassin 18 with FO, a Rare, and maybe BCBS Reserve, My guess is you'd have to add something else (about half the value or so) of any one of those, since they are all comparable, to get someone to bite.

Seems to be a function of the "anchor" beer of the trade more than anything. The weaker the anchor, the more you have to add (and probably "overpay"). Sometimes even re-arranging the order (i.e. Making sure 2014 lam listed first) seems to make a difference

Agreed. You are close, but you have to find someone with an assassin who wants multiple bottles for his one. You may need a bigger anchor.

I’m lucky enough to be going to the Mikerphone Fest next week and will be able to get 4 12 oz bottles of BA ISLBS. What ratio would I need to try and pry a BA Affogato? Might 3:1 do it?

Similarly, what ratio for Bottle Logic RFI? 1:1 and a plus on my end?

    Thanks

I would take a wait-n-see approach with the BA ISLBS. I'm not going to the event but at only 500 attendees and one 4-pack per person of Mikerphone's 'best' and most popular beer, I wouldn't even consider 3:1 for BA Affogato. That's just me though.

Adding to what @eppie82 said, pre-trades are always a give-and-take. Sometimes your up and sometimes your bust. It seems rare that pre-trades are on the same level as once the release occurs.

That said, I know people love Mikerphone beers, and this will likely be the most sought after one. That said, it seems like the trades that have popped up so far at crazy high values are on the FT side. It's hard for me to imagine trading 2 of these for a VR, BA Affagato, etc. I suspect 3 would land it, but no idea what is "fair," as I can't seem to judge the value at all on this.

I haven’t seen many pretrades. This sounds like good advice.

    Assassin 18 + HF Beyond Good & Evil :: Anabasis b2

I feel like this is pretty close, but Anabasis is a deviant little devil. Do I need to add more?

What you need is to find someone with a bottle, first .

The few people I know who've landed it have all said they overpaid for it and said it was totally worth it. I think you may have to add to close. Seems tough to get people off the fence on anabasis

This bottle is a serious wild card. If it turns out amazing, it's going to fetch a lot. I am going to the event so I hope it's KBBS level good. I've had a couple of Mike's BA stouts and was not impressed. That was a couple years ago though.

Someone on a local STL trade site is trading one looking for an Assassin ++. Not sure which year Assassin they are looking for but maybe worth a shot. I agree, it is worth overpaying. DM me for post.
