Thanks @blkhawk14 and @Aetherbulb for the feedback.

--Any idea what Guava Table trades for if the gin barrel aged version is unattainable?
--I have a Pirate Paradise b1...I wonder if that would be a better anchor for BAA.

Thinking about going for Silver Black Magick, but i see things all over the place and no completed trades is up for it (i created on but its awaiting mods approval??). Thinking of Doing SARA Matrices with a plus possibly. Is that way off?

I have no idea where the SARA beer trades but there is never a shortage of local dipshits who are willing to trade away any Voodoo barreled stout for the most recent release of Dddissappointmenttt 1:1. In terms of other Black Magicks, this one is around 1:1.5 of the Blue and Green BMs. I haven't tried it yet but consensus is that it's the best since AB and PVW.

    BAA 18 : 50N4E b4

1:1, plus anywhere, 2:1, 1:2? What are we talking here?

Guava table certainly falls in the "more obtainable" range relatively speaking. I would think Jammy could come close to landing it. I would say PP b1 is not a better anchor than jammy but has the advantage of being similar style.

Pretty close. Would think again a plus on the 50N side.
Probably a seasonal will get it done

Pirate paradise will help but it has lost its value with b2 and all the dawg bottles replicating it coming out

Just wondering what you guys think about a Morning Delight batch 5. Say I wanted to trade it for Dark Lords older than '15. I know it wouldn't be 1:1 but how many do you think it would go for? Or what's the oldest you think it would go for?

If you are trading the Mornin Delight my guess is you could get as many and as old as you want within reason (i'd say 4-5 year vert)

What would your thoughts be on how many speedway variants?

Need more specifics here honestly. Most recent speedway variants? If you are talking most sought after you may be able to get BAVSS and RBVSS from most recent batches. Beyond that hard to say for sure

I would agree with this. If you want Velvet then it would be close to 1:1.

I am very curious about this "trade value" thing...are you basing this on secondary or cash values? Because if you're not, I have no idea why one would think a MD Batch 5 would pull 4-5 Dark Lords.

I have at least 4 Dark Lord bottles in the basement & wouldn't dream of trading them for a single bottle of Morning Delight, despite the fact that the first bottling (the only one I had) was insanely good.

I'd say you are in the (correct) minority. Just seems like people could give a rip about dark lord (even with some age on it) and there are a lot of people looking to unload verts. I could care less about secondary honestly but I also guarantee this trade would get done if posted.

And the "trade value" thing is mostly a public sounding board for people to get a more informed opinion surrounding trades and to avoid general shitlordery and help ensure trades aren't completely one-sided. This forum existed on another trading medium and I thought it was great and contributed a lot to the overall conversation. The number of PM's I get from new traders asking questions tells me it holds some merit still.

I'd add some caveats. I wonder how many people would unload a 12-15/6 vert, whereas I can see plenty of people giving up pick 4-5 from last 3 years without a doubt. I know some value DL at $50, but I've always looked at it as a solid $20-30 bottle. Second caveat: depends on the reviews of this batch of MD. B4 seems to generally be better rated (and general opinion) than B3. If B3 is better than B4 or as bad or wose than B5, I think that will play a little bit of a role.

We'll have to agree to disagree. Dark Lord has slipped about 92% on the desirability scale in the past decade, but I have trouble believing someone would give up something they've either (a) travelled to a festival for specifically for years or (b) traded for specifically for a vertical...for a single bottle that's really not that hard to come by anymore. People don't casually amass verticals, nor do they part with them for the same reasons.

I understand the concept. And if there were 15 or 20 people chiming in, it would definitely have a good amount of value. But it seems like the same 3-4 people are holding forth on "trade value". That's an awful narrow branch of opinion. Not your fault at all, but unless the threads gain more traction with the general public, I'd take any recommendations here with a large spoonful of salt...

There's like 40,000 bottles of Dark Lord produced every year. There's just so much out there. This year it seems like the value is slightly higher and more sought after than in years past, but I'd be surprised if there weren't 1-2,000 people with verticals at least going back to 2014. -Especially given the variant "debacle" during the 2 prior years (not 2018).

Can't edit: Forgot to include that when people have so many bottles of DL lying around, lots of people view the ability to trade up with beers that are effectively "clogging" up their cellar as a great reason to "clean" their cellar.
