I think MD b5 could pull a 4 year vertical if the MD reviews are good. Darkness, Dark Lord, KBS are all popular verticals and novelties that would be fun to do with friends. I would give my 6 year KBS vertical for a MD b5 depending on reviews. I would rather share with friends a harder to get bottle than a beer they’ve probably had many times, just a variety of years.

 

I hate to say it but a KBS vertical probably wouldn't pull a MD. KBS is widely distributed & the coffee tends to fall off very quickly with that beer. When you're talking about beer such as MD & trading you need to understand that it pulls the same level beer. DL is brewery only but there's a shit ton produced. Darkness & KBS are also distributed throughout several states. Keep in mind that the reason a 12oz bottle only went for $100 value is because it came in a 4pk & the 4pk w/glass & box went for over $400 value. B5 is back to 22oz bombers & a glass. So therefore the value will show based on format & desire. I would assume the value will most likely go back to what it was for b3 which was over $300 a bottle or at least close to it. A KBS vertical can be purchased for under $100 & the Darkness vertical for under or around $250 depending on how many years. Personally, I'm interested to see what darkness variants go for since its the first time bottling them. The quickest way to see what a beer can pull is by posting an ad. If you're close, you'll know. If you're far off, you'll know.

 

I think you would need more than an FOb3 but less than a VR.

 

Good stuff, appreciate the feedback. I'm hoping something like a Goshawks Territory and a Bourbon Paradise do the trick, but, I understand with a big bottle like Maman, people tend to opt for quality in low bottle counts over quantity.

This may be a dumb question - is there a B1 and B2 of this, or is this like tape pop where label us was one of their bottles last year, and now this year tape pop is. I.e. Both one offs unless they repeat them at some point.

 

Correct. My point was not that I thought KBS could pull much, just that a single rare(r) bottle is more desirable to many people than a vertical of easy to obtain beers. For KBS specifically, the vertical is most likely worth keeping to most since it will only pull about a $60 secondary bottle..not much. The experience of the vertical is "worth" more than what it can pull.

 

What kind of plus would KBBS b3 need to add to land a PVW15. FO, VR, Assassin 16, FF, more?

Just saw somebody offer 10:1 bottle logic for ADWTD. Is it really that hard to get that this is even close?

 

Only iwaad had multiple batches. Pop. Rock. LUN are all single batches

Didn't seem that way to me. He even said 10:1. Just doesn't seem like it would be that to me, but idk.

 

My guess is for a set or I believe batch 3 has super low counts. The latest singles don’t go for this obviously.

 

More I believe. But I am not exactly sure on the plus as I don’t trade bourbon.

 

any early indication for what EoC b2 is at in VR units? would b1 + b2 be enough to land a Monster Tones?

 

I mean they might be both about a VR give or take but even together I don’t think anyone is giving up monster tones. They are so rare, worth so much, and so universally liked that people with them will probably keep or trade up to the handful of things worth more.
