Trade Value Thread (May 2018)

I have a purple wax Assassin and have been wanting a BA Affogato for a while. Have a guy wanting to give me the BA Affogato, 2 TH Triple Shots, and a mixed 4-pack of TH including Doublegangers.

I’m happy with the deal and he specifically said he’s happy without any bonuses on my end...but tell me if he’s being too generous so I know the level of bonuses to surprise him with.

 

Came here to ask something similar to the poster above. Have a BA Affogato, Triple Shot and Somewhere Something. Wondering if this 3:1 is enough to pull an Orange Wax Assassin. I know retail $4$ I'm a few dollars under, but never traded for something that big before, and I know secondary somewhat comes into play here. Just trying to gauge the value before I try any definitive trades.

 

Probably not. I put up a big list of 10+ bottles including BA Affo and bottles around a FOb3 Value. Wanted my volume to their single "big beer" with Assassin being one of them. I got crickets. A message asking if I was interested in trading for something other than my ISO but crickets on Assassin.

 

Great advice, thank you! I guess I overestimated the Triple Shot value.

 

Triple shot has really varied. At first people were trading Prop 17 for it. But I hve seen a ton of much more reasonable trades.

 

I'd say if you feel he's being generous you should extend the same courtesy

 

How does the 3,000+ bottle count of Handjee impact trade value this year?

 

Decreased for sure.

Also, it's more than that. It was flowing at times taps at DLD, and people easily got more tastes. Thus, more people looking/willing to move bottles. Also, not considered the #1 this year (at least not across the board).

I disagree. Handjee is Handjee. people are going to lowball it initially (check the trade forums today - 1:1 with Henna BA DR [joke], 1:1 with FF [even bigger joke]). you may seem some low trades at first but give it six months and it will be right where it always has been.

 

The guidelines for this are the following:

1. Under no circumstances should cash value, offers to exchange cash for beer, offers to exchange beer for cash, offers to exchange cash for prime grade A sirloin or really anything involving cash at all be mentioned. This will lock the thread immediately and you will be shamed. If you have to use a reference, I would recommend the gold standard of RVRU (relative vanilla rye units)
2. Don't be vague. No one really knows if you're ISO or FT. No beer has a singular value, so asking "what can I get with X?" will result with a million answers. "What does it take to land Y?" Again please help give us an idea of what you have FT or where about you're at to give an idea of locals, etc.
3. The purpose of this thread is to help users out and introduce some dialogue and conversation into the merits of a particular proposed trade. It is meant to help users new and old and be a bit more dynamic than the "completed trades" section.

I've seen a lot of BAA 1:1 with variants in Indiana. I traded a 2012 Cantillon St. Lamvinus for a Brozerker 1:1.

 

Trading 12 assorted Other Half cans for a 4 pack BDCS and a throw in of a Solera Foeder Cerise.

The trade is already agreed upon, but I normally trade pretty much $4$ or roughly bottle for bottle, so am curious to get people's thoughts.

 

$4$ applies, in my mind, to beers of equivalent value. I don't know that one can expect to see routinely produced IPAs (short of treehouse one offs like king j) pull once yearly releases of highly desirable BA stouts.
TLR $4$ doesn't apply with IPAs for BA stouts

 

Thanks! I wasn't expecting it to be $4$, I just didn't have a lot of experience with ratios so wasn't sure what was viewed as fair in this case. Obviously it felt fair enough for me to agree to it, but I was just curious what the greater beer trading community thought.

 

Oh, I'm definitely not. I am very much looking forward to trying it. I was thrilled when he offered to add that.

 

As you know it is still early, but my best guess is that you could pull a chemtrail pretty easily for VR+FO+MD B4. Maybe take a week to land? (Just a guess.) With just the VR and one of the others You maybe can land one, but might take a little longer unless the right set of eyes sees it. I don't think it is off, just the whole trading up thing with common "high value" beers, if you know what I mean.

You won't pull a Handjee with those 3 though.
