I think you might be sitting on a gold mine. It's weird because Westbrook has lost its hype, but a couple years ago the AB and Jack Daniels Mexican Cakes went for over 1k on secondary. It's one of those things where the beer inside is probably no good, but a lot of old money tickers might be looking to tick. Neither of these have moved in a long time, so I can't give an up-to-date value, but you sir, may have struck gold.

I believe the JD mexican cake is a white whale. So super hard to land. With that being said, I'd say your ship has sailed on that one. A few years ago you could have landed some big BA stouts, but I doubt anyone is gonna pony up a ton to try it at 8 years old. But hey, never hurts to try.

If @Hopelessly0 is correct and AB is also a white whale I'd say offer up the two looking for a combo of......

    Starry Noche
    BBT
    For Gabe
    TG stouts
    FFF DL variants
    etc.

Or go big and ask for Ann, MJK, Bake's

See if you get any bites

Especially considering the bottles aren't waxed...which is a detractor for several reasons, particularly with higher value targets.

If you can't trade it, you might be able to organize a share with the likes of some of those bottles from SP, TG, FFF, HF, etc.

Wondering if anyone has ever traded for Esker Hart beers. Heard about it recently and the ratings and styles being made look amazing. Also the fact that they appear to be small format bottles is the icing on the cake. Just curious if it's like Little Cottage (near impossible to acquire and I should be prepared to offer a lot) or if maybe it's a little more accessible. Any info is appreciated.

If you want more specifics I have a spare bottle of Anabasis I could part with. How many barrel aged bottles from them could I expect in return?

Where in FL are you? Love to invite you to our next share and open a few of those "For Science". Or if you do want to trade hit me up. Either way get on those, I had the RW and AB back in the day and they were sublime.

    Cheers!

They're really good but hard to assess trade value because most get drank (shocking I know). Releases are low count and go immediately. Admittedly haven't really seen too many people seeking them out or conversely offering them for trade. Have had a couple and they're worth trying but given you're in MO with access to SP, I wouldn't want your expectations to be sky high.

Anyone have any experience trading Two Metre Tall sours? I have some Original Soured Ale, Barrel Aged Sour Cherry Ale, and Barrel Aged Soured Wild Plum Ale. All from 2018. I don't really see much in old trade posts so hard to gauge a value. I have not traded in 5-6 years either so am a little out of the loop as well. Would like to trade for some Cantillon.

Can someone give me an idea on what it would take to land a Handjee 16 or 17?

Here on BA? An actual willing trade partner which is in short supply and getting shorter by the day. Trading on this site has become pretty impossible unless you are willing to overpay for something. Better luck on just about ANY other platform honestly. Good luck

I think this is worthy of discussion as I think several of us are having this same experience. Why is this? No more bourbon?
I personally do not care for many of the recent changes to this site, no more bourbon being a big one. I love beer more than bourbon, so it was good trade ammo for someone that cant get many big beers to trade with. For me, allowing bourbon trades was still in advocacy of beer since it allowed me to pursue beers I really want and would otherwise not be obtainable with beers I have access to.

I think it's no more bourbon. It's sad cause I prefer the community and trading on here over other platforms, but it's gotten so slow here that it's slowly killing BA. Honestly, still don't fully understand why they banned bourbon and mead. It's all because ONE guy didn't like it and the whole community now suffers.

Yeah it is tough. Can you give me an idea in VRU so I can get my brother to make an offer on spacebook? I refuse to join that platform.

Not a lot of data points, but '17 seems to be going for around 350-400 , and '16 like 600-750 on FB.

2-2.5 VRU? I can't imagine either going much higher if at all. Had both at a whale share a little over a month ago and both are on the decline. More so the '17 for whatever reason. I'm with you on the refusal to join FB and have done the same thing and resorted to having my brother post the occasional trade for me. I do use IG to keep up with brewery releases and have had good luck so far trading up there but its definitely riskier.

WOW! I was way off on my assumption if this is the case. No way either is worth that value but of course thats just my own personal opinion and there are probably plenty out there willing to pay it.

I agree....it was made out to be like a ton of people hated bourbon/non-beer posts. But from the traffic that used to on here, seemed to me that most traders were all ok with it. Ill get in trouble for suggesting this, but as a community of beer traders that is somewhat self-regulated, what if we all just chose not to report non-beer trades? Guess its the old-school punk in me "F*$% your rules, we trade what we want!"

lol. that might be one small contributing factor, but it’s hilarious to suggest that it’s the only or even primary factor leading to less trading here.

this has been discussed as nauseam, and I’m not bringing anything novel up by suggesting that what you’re describing is mostly due to greater availability of quality local options, general fatigue with the marketplace, better/cheaper ways to get beer than having to seek out beer and then trade for it, as well as -in the case of BA specifically- what I would have to guess is less general activity on the site, etc.

banning bourbon/mead may have been a (small) contributing factor relating to less trading here, but to suggest that it’s “killing [trading on] BA” strikes me as a wild claim.

You're probably right that it's not the primary leading factor, trading on here in general has been trending downwards. Maybe to re-phrase, I think it's only slowed trading down most recently. The trade boards are moving as slow as ever and it might be the "last nail in the coffin". Just my opinion for the recent downturn.
