In short, yes. Have you had it before? Nothing close to what it once was but personally I never really thought it to be deserving of the hype in the first place. Not a bad beer but nothing super special either. But of course thats just one mans humble opinion. Drink the B5Ks, they're delicious!

Both in terms of beer quality and in terms of secondary — yes, to be truthful. I know we’re comparing barleywine to a spicy BA stout, but I far prefer the B5K.

Nope I've never it....I really like the non BA version. Been wanting to tick a few classic whale-ish stouts lately. Thanks so much for the input

Perennial makes great stouts. Let us not forget, they ARE Main Project, after all. That said, Abraxas has always been too heavy on spice, and BAA even heavier, detracting from the otherwise excellent mouthfeel and barrel character IMO.

    Hi everyone!

    Would B3K + B5K = BBT?

    How close or far off.

(I drink beer, idk the value tbh.)

This is maybe halfway there in terms of “value” if you’re aiming for a “lower” BBT like BBT3, but truthfully I doubt a combo of just B3K and B4K would get it done... you’d at least need to have B2K in there to get some interest and even then it would be multiples, I think.

(and people who discuss “value” of beer often times drink it as well, just like you do).

Ahh, alright, hmm... Thanks... Not much I can do to get a BBT other than use the force of the dark side... Back to FB again

    Thanks for the input

And even included some impressive extras to the B5K recipient I seem to recall.

In fairness, your trading partner was literally swimming in B5k, and so was absolutely delighted to make the trade.

I have some older De Garde bottles that I am contemplating trading because I am probably not going to drink them. I know this is quite a general ask but are any of the following beers trade able for say Hill Farmstead or Floodland middle tier stuff?

    Raz Premiere
    Boysenberry Bu
    Blackberry Bu
    The Peach
    Petit Peche
    Imperial Purple Raz

I’ve always traded $4$ so be gentle. My buddy has a birthday coming up very soon and was thinking of a Port Damon as a gift. Would a 750 of Cantillon Gueuze or Kriek plus local cans work?

    Edit: 2020 bottling, not vintage.

No, sorry. If anything, those two plus local cans might work though. That being said, Port Damon was a weird release in that there were no/low limits — if you have your eye on that one you could wait to see if value drops.

If you were an average Joe Schmoe Cantillon Gueze + Kriek + some fox farm locals would definitely do it. However, considering how many free boxes of beer you have given away I hope someone on BA hooks you up. If I was local to Vermont I would just send you a bottle for some fox farm lagers. Good luck @Kozaka.

It really should. Beer was released at no posted limit and has since been updated today to 12 bottles per person. That’s a very generous limit, just need the money. If someone got the limit or more and wouldn’t part with one for a bottle of cantillon and some Fox Farm goodness, then it’s all a joke.

“Should” doesn’t really match what “will” happen here, I don’t think.

Anyone, please please feel free to prove me wrong and reach out to me to trade your Port Damon to me for a Cantillon reg and a few cans of hops, I’ll be happy to add on my end even.

If I had multiple I would, but I have none. I’m not looking to prove you wrong. I think a beer that carried no limit and now a very high limit doesn’t carry much weight to command multiple cantillon, even if they are “regulars”, and multiple cans, imo.

I totally get where you’re coming from so please don’t think that I’m just being argumentative or disagreeable — but what value “should” be (based on limits, taste, whatever) isn’t always determinative (as we all know). I’d be very, very surprised if the factors you mentioned led to the value you mentioned here.

If you look at what Port Damon has traded for elsewhere, regular Cantillon almost certainly won’t get bites — I tried helping the asker out by letting him or her know this.

Full disclosure: I have Port Damon coming my way, but would happily trade Cantillon for much more as per above.

For reference, these are some completed trades I’ve seen:

MC11 + DB Fear Trembling for 2 PD
Fou + SARA variations on a theme for 1 PD

And I see plenty of offers that haven’t closed for PD, like 5:1 Fox Farm Avalonia, or 2:1 with plenty of Freak Folk, Hill, Suarez wilds.

But who knows! Like I said, maybe the asker should wait until people pick up their cases to see if it drops. My point was that it isn’t near that now.
