All right I see where you're coming from. Forgive me for my relative lack of excitement and familiarity, since this isn't MeadAdvocate and I'm not very deep in the mead game, even though BA recently allowed open trading of mead. I didn't mean to harangue you personally, but this has been an itch I've been unconsciously waiting to scratch for a little while and I'm just now realizing it.

Don't get me started on the 3 Chiefs malarkey that's going on now, doing by best to step aside from that ludicrous insanity (and failing)...

I'm not even referring to Pips production, just the fact that most mead drinkers are fairly local and regional to their meaderies and are for the most part buying mead to consume and aren't a part of the insane sort of hype engine that beer geeks and beer traders are. For those few that do actually trade mead and get into that much more niche game, I think Pips will be more easily available simply due to a passing flock of beer geeks moving onto the next, or realizing they don't even really like mead all that much. TBH I feel like people in classified online sites like Reddit and Craigslist have better chances at getting smaller batch meads than on beer or wine trading sites, by simply asking locals to sign up for memberships or ask around for members who are willing to share the love. At least those are the anecdotes I've run into.

Regardless, maybe my palate isn't as developed in drinking honey wine, but the meads I've had from these more hyped meaderies are usually just stickier, more viscous, sweeter and higher ABV versions of the more humble, yet more readily available beverages coming out of the quaint little meadery I have by my house. Needless to say I really just don't get it and probably never will. Sure, not all of Crafted's meads are high horse power, barrel aged or flavor-added monstrosities, but they produce high quality mead, the flavor profiles they've achieved aren't drastically better (or worse), and it's just so much easier to access, even across a wide swathe of the country. If I want mead I can readily grab it off a shelf or even get it on draft, and that includes a wide variety of Scrhamm's. I would have thought someone from Wisconsin would have a decent opportunity to try some Pips Plum, but I guess since they're basically a brand spanking new meadery, it might be a bit of a wait outside of trading. But that also brings us back to 3 Chiefs...where does the hype even come from and how well deserved is it even, really?

Either way, I just felt like you could have gotten a whole hell of a lot more for that MDb5 with even just a little bit of patience or persistence.

I like you Sabtos, very thought out and articulate arguement. If you're ever in the Milwaukee area reach out and I'll bring some mead/beers to share. Also I really like Crafted's stuff too. Their banana foster mead was one of my first and helped get me into mead.

Sorry guess should clarify. Not looking for cash, just appropriate trade value.
    Say M&M 18OAIBS and a + for it?

I have some rare lambic getting shipped to me from a friend in Europe. I will be getting Zenne b2, magic lambic, 50n 2017, and maybe some seasonals. I’m looking to land Art b4, and Clover/or Damon b3.

Do You think Zenne b2 + 50N would be enough to land Art b4 + Clover, or would I need Magic Lambic to land Art b4?

Really wanting a bottle of MDB5. Been trying to use ADWTD DO as my anchor in a trade with a plus. No luck so far.

Am I off that many VR units?

If memory serves, you've been trying this locally (IP) only. Is that correct, or have you been trying this in the non-IP forum as well?

Not sure this is the right place for it but do the Perennial non ba stouts get a lot of distro? In Philly we are getting Prodigal, Sump, and Abraxas now. Trying to figure out a good range of VR units for a set like that.

I don't trade much at all, so bear with me, but I'm trying to pull a BAA for my '18 Assassin. Reasonable?

These are obviously from April and May of this year, but in the completed trades section it appears that 3 trades have had the Assassin '18 (assuming the Assassin + WA trade was an '18) adding a plus ranging from Monster's Park BA Mexican Hot Chocolate to STUFT to West Ashley. Someone chime in if things have changed since earlier this year (which is definitely possible), but looks like you would need a decent plus based on those 3 completed trades.

I am surprised. I would have thought that would have gotten some bites with decent pluses.

I am surprised at lack of completed trades with MDb5 considering how often it is posted in trade forums and the prevailing thought that there is quite a bit of it out there. Maybe people are waiting for trade value to increase? Maybe they are holding on to it because they really like this year’s batch? (this is my main reason for not looking to trade any of the bottles). Whatever the reason, I am still surprised and I definitely haven’t gotten a confident sense for what MDb5 is going for.

What kind of Cantillon would it take to land Bark Lord Day bottles from Transient? Either the complete set or single bottles.

Among Nath, Fou, St. Lam, Vig, Iris, 50N4E b4, LPF, Blåbær 18 750 ml, GCB, CSG, RdG, Kriek and Geuze.

The trade would include international shipping and possibly expanding.
