Trade Value Thread (Q3 2018)

People have been able to taste it at festivals or whatever and the early reports (from what i've seen) are that it is better than the last 2 batches. Take it with a grain of salt....

 

No you are not way off, but you are offering beers that someone with a 15 Rare most likely already has or has access to without having to give up a bottle that retailed at like 80 bucks.

 

I'm not sure what batch, but it was a 750 MD.
I traded a ANTEAD Vanilla and a Sunday Brunch for Morning Delight and Kentuckly.
1 for 1 certainly seems reasonable.

 

I mean trades/sales/etc that have closed already. Quality of the beer itself is almost always high to start, especially with something with a lot of hype, then settles over time to be more indicative of the actual profile. That's why I said it was a gamble to wait. Wait and the beer is average and you win. Wait and the beer is better than previous batches and you've lost.

Drop in value is not necessarily just due to a potential difference in quality.

There should be more of this MD than there has ever been in the past based on how easy it was for most people to get tickets. I did not end up landing one, so I have no dog in this race. All that said, it is a larger format (probably because they made so much), and I expect the value to end up being between a MD B4 (approx. 1:1 with FO B3 or Rare-15 or 1/2 VR), and a VR. We'll see.

There's not too many people that I know (of) that are well acquainted with rarer/uncommon lambic - at least not stateside. Hopefully he can offer some helpful advice.

 

Are people really closing FO trades that they ask for? I’ve wanted to try this beer for years and it seems like there is a ton this year and yet people are trying to get absurd stuff with it. It was even in stores for crying out loud. Just curious what people thought about it.

 

Trades through various places I know have close :

12:1 for Kbbs
12:1 for SR-71
6:1 for fundamental forces
4:1 for BAA (at least 3 times)
3:1 for BA sump
1:1 for Canuckly/kentuckley/ruckley
1:1 for Vlad the Neapolitan (at least 2)
1:1 Grasp of Darkness (at least 3)
1:1 J.K. Atrial b8 (like 10 times)

 

Thanks for sharing so it does seem a lot of people on here having been trying to hit high. Hopefully it becomes a little easier to try and get as things shake out.

 

Yea it’s in a weird place right now, people with it are trying to use it as an anchor to trade up. People ISO of it are usually looking for multiples, it will settle eventually.

 

Without turning this into a completed trades thread, I have seen it close 3:1 for VR and 1:1 with some of the more limited degarde stuff like the new Cognac Peach. It might help if you say what you have access to and then people can help you organize a trade for it that is reasonable.

The forum is flooded with those posts asking for way over on your side and undervaluing the other side and there really isn't a mechanism to limit them or redirect them. Reddit was nice because you could upvote fair or generous offers, here people just spam the same absurd offer every day, hoping to get lucky. It's happening already with MDb5 on both sides.

 

4:1 on BAA huh.. damn. I wonder if a 2x FOb4 + 1x FOb3 + some sort of extra (MC10 perhaps?) would get it done for BAA

 

Maybe, BAA18 has been dropping recently from what I have heard, but those 4:1 deals closed super fast. If you had a 4th stasis bottle of whatever else you would probably be set.

Well...someone's already putting up FOb4+Black Note damn near $4$ for Bissell cans that release every week, sometimes multiple times per week. They may even be over on the FO side depending on where or how they got the BN.

I don't expect one DL to close a FO. DL is often seen as a $4$ bottle. If you figure a bottle could get you 3-5 good cans and a FO might be 7-10 good cans, you are about on point if you offer both. Issue is shipping across the country for one bottle.
