    I'm thinking BBT 21 range? 250-300ish?

Not really a value question, but I remember reading somewhere that one of the Assassin vintages was considered not as tasty as others. I think it was more plum/raisin forward and not as much barrel. Was that 2018 (orange wax)?

I've only had 13,14 and 16. 16 was very dark fruit forward.

Continuance b3 > Maman with the difference being something like Achromatic Vibes or Parfait b4.

Side note: funny that achromatic vibes was so low. Being a SP/WW collab seems like it would have been bigger.

Honestly I was surprised at that "value" but there was another completed trade for around 300 for 2x bramble and 1x VB. If those are actually legitimate, then I would think a BBT closes it easily alone and probably longer with a plus. But take it with a grain of salt.

There were several iterations of Assassin that people were much more 'meh' about than others. This appeared to culminate in the Orange wax (2018 sounds correct, but could have also been fall 2017). It was the only time I won, but speaking from some personal experience, not just what I think I remember reading.

First release was, but SP made a ton, and it sat for...what, 2 months? And at some point you didn't even need to buy a package. So, more or less face value. But, that face value is $40 for a non-BA stout, and it seems like most people seem to agree that by the time you get to the end of the bottle, you're a bit sick of the beer. There's just so much, and the vanilla is perhaps a little strong.

This said by someone that not only said this the first time (i.e. b1, after originally feeling like it was incredible during the first 5oz), but also as someone who chose to buy a bottle this year. I just intend to enjoy it over 2-3 days, and in small increments.

Great type of beer to share and give every 3-5oz

2018 is considered the least valuable despite its huge chocolate forward tasting on the 4 bottles and 2 tappings I’ve had. But I would say most assassins have a big dark fruit taste

Heh 2018 is my favorite. I’ve always gotten huge dark chocolate notes from it and one California poster ripped me for saying that, telling me that nobody else would ever say that and 2018 was the worse. But oh well going to stout stock next week so hope I get another. I opened my one from stout stock last year last night

I’ve been out of the game for a while. Would love if someone could fill me in on the relative trade values for the following:

(and if different batches trade wildly differently, would really appreciate any details)

    - BBT
    - Derivation (latest few)
    - Samuel
    - Art
    - Clover
    - Double Barrel Aaron
    - KBBS
    - KBBS Reserve
    - Blue Suede Shews
    - There’s a Snake in my Shews
    - Vanilla Rye

Thank you so much to anyone who can help!

    Been a minute. Thoughts on:

    BBT '22 --> Rye BBT '21

Looking for 1:1. Could do IP either side of the state to help swing things.

I think they’re pretty close in value, but may take a small plus to entice someone to swap since the rye release is less often.

I'll take a stab at this for ya

BBT - Last couple years 250ish the rest are 3-400ish with 18 a little higher
Derivation - Last to go was D15 and it is around 500ish maybe a touch lover now. Seems any before that (I think 12 was the next available to go) are close to 1k with older ones being more.
Samuel - I believe all batches are pretty close. 300ish?
Art - Varys quite a bite
    Clover- ?
    DB Aaron -?
    KBBS - 16 and older probably 800ish? 18-19 400ish 20 and up 3-400?
    Reserve- 600ish maybe more
    BSS - Last batch 157ml 300ish 375's 600 and 750 over 1k
    Snake in shews- ?
Vanilla Rye - 200ish probably a little less

I'll only comment on this one. I think VR is now anywhere from $100-200 in terms of "trade value". No idea on FB-type sales, but I know that these have been moving lower, and probably 6-12 months ago a fellow BA was talking to me about how these had fallen on FB, and was telling me he saw them at $100-125 at the time.

It really depends on who you trade with on this one, I think @masilva48

Neither of your ISO were released to the public. If they were it would probably be 40:1 to 50:1 based on values of other DB derivations..

You're way off but if you really wanna try a side project stout you might be able to trade Witch Meadow black for something from the Shared Parfait line. I hear batch 4 is great and it's attainable. Good luck!

It would probably take 2 Witch Meadow for Parfait b4, but probably 1:1 on Parfait b1-b3

The closest accessible Side Project beer that's similar to DB Mizunara is probably DB generational or BBT and both of those are ~ 2 VRU. Witch Meadow black was available for cost for some time at Fox Farm and is probably <1/2 VRU, probably closer to 0.25 VRU, AKA fitty.

While I understand market values are market values, I personally don’t value SP the same way the market does. I’ve have a few vintages of bbt, and while it’s great, there are so many great, attainable ba stouts locally in the northeast that I’m not going to go out of my way monetarily to obtain SP

    cheers! Thank you all!

Two reasons, mainly. First, there’s absolutely nowhere to check the market value for witch meadow (black), really, there isn’t. Secondly, deep down inside, I have this long lost hope, that someone local to SP, would at least respect a trade from a really solid brewery from ct. Hype aside, SP is good, but the market is saturated with good ba stouts.

cheers to those of you basking in a basic bitch level of wine snobbery via side project and tg. Someone’s gotta keep the market values up, right?

I genuinely think it’s crazy to trade 50:1 for two ba stouts. Once again, I understand market value tells me to fuck off, and I respect that. But also, I would 10 out of 10 times take even 5 bottles of ff ba stout to one sp, let alone 50 to 1

    Anyways, roast away

*Asks for advice of BA community*
    *Doesn't like said advice*
*Attacks brewery that he was actually looking to trade for*

I am not sure why people post bad questions and are hurt when the answer is not what they wanted to hear. Witch's Meadow has no listed market value because the retail and secondary are the same. That beer sat in the webshop for months. But, you asked what the value was compared to one of the most rare beers in the world (specifically because there were limited barrels, never released to public) and then you are sad when you realize it's not 2:1? You couldn't close DB Mizunara 1000:1 because nobody wants that much Witch's Meadow. And it doesn't have to be a Side Project beer, you can insert stuff from the Northeast; Pear Leto, Flora Cuvee, Ann, DB Ann, Le Sarrasin, Art b4, Pappy BM.

You didn't come here asking what is a comparable beer from another brewery that is a fair trade. Like @Sabtos you came here in the off chance someone was slippin. Now it seems you are looking for a handout.

Fox Farm is great. I personally think they are one of the most underrated breweries in the USA right now. But cmon man, at least offer a variety of other good beers like Triolet/Cadenza so it looks like you are trying.

This site is becoming more and more like Facebook.

One point of clarification, Witch Meadow and Witch Meadow Black from this year didn’t last a week?, not months, at 3 per person.

Otherwise, I’m on board with the rest of it.

Thinking about trading some SP for some Wax Wings. How do Forever Darkness and For TWCP stack up to Harbors, DB Prison of Elders and DB Rye Heights.

Am I looking at 1:2, 1+:2, 1:1+ or are these basically 1:1 trades. Hard to keep track of Wax Wings values

Also Interested in Cuppa Neat and a plus for either of those SP bottles. How big of a plus can I expect in a fair trade.

This is largely my reaction as well, but I'm puzzled by the vitriol and attitude. If he thinks SP ba stouts and similarly regarded stouts are all over rated and not worth the price of admission, why try to trade for them?

To be perfectly honest, I tend to feel the same way (they're not worth the price of admission - to me!). But who cares what I think? The fact is we live in a world where the market dictates the trade value of a particular beer. What contributes to a particular beer's value has been discussed ad nauseum in various other threads, and while that may strike some of us as unfair and excessive, it is what it is.

If a beer's trade value seems over priced and excessive to you, don't try to trade for it. Why is that so difficult to accept?
