So as a belated birthday I got a beer from my old man that was re-gifted from my older sister back in 2009. I know this because I got the same beer at the same time! The difference is I drank mine, and my father held on to his. About a month ago he gave me the "2009 Unibroue dark ale on lees" that I also got back in '09. I'm super grateful that I got this aged beer, and have attached some sentimental value to it. For this reason am I hesitant to drink it... the trouble is that it has a "best enjoyed before" date of 9/12/12. So my question is this... should I drink it now? or continue to save it? (for the record I have never been that impressed with Unibroue beers, it's the sentiment that makes this bottle tough to drink).

Just drank my 2009, drink it, it's worth it! We've been aging each for three years since 2007.

Have you had Trois Pistoles from Unibroue? I think that's the best one they got.

Also, I think I would drink it just knowing that you had one fresh, and now you're going to try the aged version. I've always thought that Trader Joe's has decent beers except for the Boatswain ones.
