I got a bourbon vanilla for a lot of GI stuff - I think a rare, KH, some BA kuhnhenn's, and a few other solid bottles. Not that easy. The regular bourbon might be a bit easier.
I traded a Cognac, Bourbon, and Cognac De Muerte for 2 Framboos. EDIT: Looking at your previous ISO, I'd say that even if you offered all 7, you wouldn't be able to land a BA Vanilla DL. You need something rarer as the "centerpiece" for the trade.
I have a Bourbon DL and Bourbon Vanilla DL. The problem is that I own them collectively with a tasting group and the only bottles they'd let me trade the Bourbon DL for are a Cognac DL or a BA Huna. For the Vanilla they'd want that + something else tbd (the group's rationale for the "+" was that Vanilla sold out first), which I don't think will ever happen. Sigh... Sorry, I know this wasn't much help. EDIT: there were some incredible offers I remember seeing in the ISO thread right after DLD, but I couldn't get my buddies to bite on any of them.
It seems to take pretty limited, quality bottles to get people to part with their BA Dark Lords. I traded 2 Framboos for 3 BA Dark Lords and a Southampton Black Raspberry Lambic a few months ago. I can't quite seem to remember who that was with though...
I just traded a Bourbon DL for 2x BASC, 2012 Darkness and Olde Rabbit's Foot. I also set up a trade of Vanilla DL for Jean Chris Nomad.
It's easier to buy on ebay....wait where can we go now that I can't get my collectible glassware fix?
Offer one nice centerpiece bottle (CR, CFH, Vanilla) and add 3 to 4 nice bottles as well (huna, BT, beat 5, dl, darkness, MoaS). I let go of my last bourbon vanilla for and Armand and Tommy, bramble, Kate 12, st. Lamvinus 05 and Iris 07 750 mL. In all honesty, they are all tasty, but not worth what you have to give up.
I had a bourbon & let it go for beatification, darkness & chocolate rain. I was plenty happy with it. It completed two different tastings that I was trying to line up & gave me something special to share with my wife It seems like the hardest part is finding someone willing to get rid of one for a quantity of "lesser" beers & not just whale trade (judging mostly by ISO:FT forums and obviously not my own experience)..
Understood....and thanks all for the responses all. I guess I typically enjoy when I can get a number of quality beers for a single, albeit likely rarer, beer. Though I can understand the logic, what seems most frustrating is the "I can get those beers without trading x beer" mentality that seems to run rampant on this site. Again,I understand it but it's just not the way I personally prefer to trade.
Was part of a bigger trade, but I traded a Bourbon DL '12 for '09 BA Speedway, Silva Stouts etc. Both parties were happy and we have traded several times since then.
I'm in the process of trading away a 2012 Del Muerte for a Bourbon County Vanilla + '11 Fou Foune. It's expanded to a bigger trade. I got offered a bottle of Rare for it too but I think I'd rather have the Vanilla.
