Do any of you on here trading for beers find it a little frustrating that sometimes making a trade is really tough because everyone is out for the biggest, rarest and most expensive beers to trade. What I love to be able to trade for a KBBS, assassin, bourbon county coffee etc. yes, but sometimes I would just love to have more people looking to do easier trades for really good local beers that are not as hard to find. Common thoughts?
Yes. Actually my last couple trades have been for some run of the mill local stuff that I cant get in MI. Examples... Great Divide and Jackie O's Nothing crazy hard to find by them, Just their core line up. Love their brews and I'm always looking for more. Its just sometimes the other AWESOME traders here on BA hook it up with some excellent extras. CHEERS
Obviously NE IPAs and TG stouts are kinda clogging the trade board right now, but I've done plenty of trades for smaller stuff here. There's probably more people on here like you than you realize, so post your ISO's with impunity and see what shakes out.
It does get old seieng the the same old repetitive ISOs KBBS/Assasin/FO/VR, etc; that most of which have no prayer of getting done. But just scroll past those and find or post up for things you want. Plenty of orther trades are getting done, lots of other good seasonal stuff that aren't too hard to get are out now.
Its the season for posts involving the brews you mentioned. It will die down soon enough. Whenever a big beer is released posts fly in one way or the other on the forums. I've never had a problem finding people interested in smaller deals (smaller hype or value, not volume) but it may take more sifting through the posts, using the search function, or posting your own ISO. Another option would be to join a BIF. The NBS BIF (for example) is designed for swapping beers that would be new to the recipient they don't have to be extremely sought after, just good brews that are new to your sender. In the process you have the opportunity to meet a ton of BA's and create trade partners. Your options can grow exponentially from there.
When I'm looking for a smaller trade I just search "local" in the ISO:FT forum. You still have to dig through some, but you'll find people looking for what you want. Even if they've already found someone it doesn't hurt reaching out for the future.
I've never traded for the "big beers", just doesn't appeal to me very much. All I've traded for is the standard "shelf" beers. Besides, it's a way to expose others to "shelf" beers from Minnesota.
