Trading for Rare

Something can be declining but still good. The trend isn't the same as the level.

 

Yes, but when someone says declining you dont think of it positively. When i hear declining I think, "Well, fuck that beer."

 

rare is declining... but it still tastes great. but it's declining.

 

I don't, I just think that something isn't as good as it used to be. I'm not really sure why any other interpretation makes sense, since we have perfectly good language for describing something being bad, but not any other way to describe something being good but not as good as it used to be.

 

it's pretty much guaranteed on ba that if someone says beer x is declining, 10 people will say it's awesome. age only helps beer, especially ones that are rare or have rare in the name.

 

Everybody knows that rare beer only starts declining after you've ticked it.

I don't know about that exact window of time (10 months), but I agree with your thrust. The beer is only degrading in quality, and I stuck my bottles in cold storage (35 degrees) a year ago.

If you have bottles I'd take them out of your "cellar" and put them into a refrigerator, or drink them this week.

 

I have a feeling I know who you are talking about. If I am right, he is definitely insane and definitely an awesome dude. Will be sending many SD "whales" his way as I acquire them.

 

I just cracked a 2008 BCBS two weeks ago and it might have been the best BA stout I've ever had. Lets just say that I'm not too concerned about my remaining bottles of Rare "declining".

 

I'd give up a Rare for an 09 BT. Just throwing it out there.

Does how things have been aging have any relevance for trading? It seems like the value is based on how something initially tastes, and then only grows as it gets rarer/older.

 

Rare was pretty excellent last night, but the first batch of chocolate rain (also drank last night) was still better in my opinion.

I had a CBS two weeks ago and I thought it was still amazing. But yeah, $4$ destruction.
