It seems like trading German beer is pretty much unheard of (probably because most German beers are drastically better fresh). Still, I don't see why something like a rare doppelbock or Berliner wouldn't be sought after.

Has anybody had any good experiences with trading German beer? Curious to get some good insight.

    Cheers.

I've heard people trading for various German Goses and Berliners, but maybe not much else. I think the issue is that most German beer is either widely distributed across the US (including world-class beers) or will require an international trade.

That said, since Andechs started distributing to a few areas you might consider seeking their beers out in a trade.

Yeah international trades seem to be quite a barrier. It's a shame because I'm sure there are tons of amazing German beers from small breweries that don't make it to the US that BAs will never get to try (or even hear about).

Good call with Andechs. Their stuff is delicious. I actually find it on tap from time to time though I haven't really been looking to see if I can find any bottles near me. Need to do that.
