Looking for opinions on 2 scenarios: Scenario #1 - User A and User B worked out a deal for an IP trade and everything got finalized expect the day/time to meet. Schedules for whatever reason hasn't worked out for either and things got put on the back burner. Let's say few weeks passed with no communication between both users. User A hasnt heard anything from User B since first day and basically lost interest in the trade now. Would it be wrong for user A to drink those beers or trade away to someone else? If you were user B would you be understanding and ok with him doing that or pissed off that the trade isn't happening anymore despite no communication from both sides in few weeks? Scenerio #2 - User A and User B worked out a deal early/middle of the week for a ship trade. Trade requests accepted on both sides and both agreed to wait and ship out the following Monday. Rest of the week goes by with no further communications between the two. Saturday comes and User A sends out a friendly message just reconfirmimg their trade and the agreed Monday ship date however User B does not respond back at all that day or Sunday despite obviously being online on BA. If you were User A do you still fulfill your end and ship out your box on Monday despite not hearing anything from User B since the original agreed date early of the past week? I'm sure I'll have more Scenerio questions later on but that's it for now, thanks
Scenario #1 - It sounds like the user is no longer interested in the trade but I would still communicate this to the user before doing anything with those particular beers, especially if a trade request was accepted. Scenario #2 - If a trade request was accepted the next message I send is a tracking number, I typically don't reconfirm the trade. I'm not sure if there's more information that's causing this concern on your part but it's possible the user forgot to reply to the message.
I am going to assume you are User A. Scenario # 1 - Contact the other trader, ask them if they are still interested. If enough time goes by and you don't hear from then drink the beer. Scenario # 2 - Once trade is accepted, addresses exchanged and date agreed to, there is know need to reconfirm. I guess it would have been nice for User B to respond, but the reconfirm message by User A was unnecessary. User A should ship as agreed to.
Scenario 1: I agree with both previous users. A couple weeks is more than enough time to respond. But communication is key. If you let them know if you don't hear a response within a set amount of time you will drink/trade the beer that is ok at this point. Scenario 2: I would have shipped on Monday still. If you were unsure they were going to ship perhaps you should have found a different trade partner. Hopefully by not you either have a tracking number back or a response letting you know that they got delayed. Hope both scenarios work out.
Scenario 1 - Sounds like there was no communication from User A sent to User B, and vice versa. This reminds me of the child's game that whoever blinks first loses. Both parties should've reached out to one another before things "got put on the back burner"- send out a message saying there is no longer interest, i'm assuming a trade request wasn't sent, give a deadline for reply, and then proceed to drink or trade. If I was user B, I wouldn't be pissed if there was a deadline. That deadline should be like a 2 days. Scenario 2 - text User B before shipping out. If still no response, then i'd be a little hesitant and at least wait until communication has been reestablished.
