Beer Trading Updates: More Than Beer & Even More

Although beer trading started on BeerAdvocate in the late 90s and has greatly evolved since, we haven't always been overly flexible. It's time to change this, and the time for change is now.

We now support discussing trading of alcoholic beverages beyond beer. There's a lot of crossover with beer drinkers and vice versa. This loosening of the rules will broaden our userbase, expand the discussion, and allow traders to connect with more trading partners than ever before.

Forum Changes

• ISO;FT and In-Person (United States) forums have been converted into categories.
• Prefixes within these forums have been converted into forums under their new categories (e.g. $4$ is now under ISO;FT as a forum).
• In-Person (International) regional prefixes weren't converted to forums due to inactivity. We can revisit this if activity picks up. In the meantime, most are putting the location in their thread titles and we encourage you to continue to do so.
• All forums and threads have been adjusted and moved accordingly.
  
• Beer Trading is now Trading, and Beer Trading Talk is now Trade Talk.

Thread Changes

• New thread prefixes will now be used to denote the primary beverage focus of the trade (e.g. beer, mead, cider, etc.). Select the one that best meets your trade.
• Mandatory beverage prefixes have been applied to ISO;FT, In-Person, and Completed Trades forums. We might add it to Trade Talk as optional.
• We'll adjust beverage prefixes as needed.

Forgiveness
Many past warnings were for trading infractions for rules that not longer apply, so we've wiped everyone's warnings and points. Enjoy your clean slates.

Even More Changes

• The daily post limit has been raised from one to two posts within a 24-hour period.
• All trading posts are now likeable and will now count toward the user's totals, however, a user's Posts and Likes may drop if threads are self-deleted or periodically pruned. Any associated Beer Karma points may drop, too. The core reasoning behind this is to display trading posts when viewing a user's recent content and alert posters when they're content is viewed as valued by others.
• Rules and tips have been updated.

There isn't. Displaying all threads in the parent category would require a custom forum solution; a significant amount of coding.
