Picked up a bottle of this in a recent trade (thanks Chris) but can't seem to find much info here.

Anyone had it? Idea on bottle count? Barrel info? Etc.

    Thanks

I wanna say it was only 5-6 hundred.

Looks like 1500 bottles done in Jim Beam barrels. I have bottles in the mid 700's. Can't wait to crack one open, IMO the brew at Nantahala is better than most available in Asheville, the only problem is it's really out of the way in Bryson City.

Let us know how it is. I had a flat bottle, and someone else reported the same thing. I got word that it's not suppose to be like that, but I'll be back at the brewery in about 2 weeks, so I'm going to try my hand at another one, as well as partake of their great IPA's.

I have a mid 600 bottle, and it seemed like they had quite a few.

I didn't like the lemongrass IPA, but their regular IPA and DIPA were both nice. I also has a French Broad IPA in Asheville I liked too, kinda tasted like Hop Devil other than that Asheville is great bars and nice places with pretty average beers in general. The better stuff from Foothills and Olde Hickory weren't represented, or I missed them.

I had one I purchased at the brewery...mid 200s bottle number. It was a fantastic beer. The taproom itself is very cool and worth a visit. I stopped in there 4 times over a 4 day weekend in Bryson City this April. We went through A LOT of growlers.

BTW, I was told it was Jack Daniels barrels... at the brewery.. Didn't ask, they just volunteered that..

ddtprm- Did you drink the Noonday? I think it's a really balanced IPA. Works good when it's hotter than hell up there this summer.

Hrmm... What did you not like about the Trail Magic Lemongrass IPA?

You liked their regular IPA, which is great, and the French Broad IPA, which is really good as well. I didn't like the DIPA at Nantahala all that much, however, I only got a tasting glass of it. I did an entire flight of their IPA's. The session IPA was pretty decent, but I think their Noonday is plenty sessionable, so I didn't see the need, really. Their blonde I think it was, was really good as well, as was the ATX Pale.

The lemon grass was over powering, maybe this might be one that would grow on you because it was so unique. I'd try it again though. Noon Day was their best brew I tasted, my wife had the Blonde which she liked. I asked about the barrels and the bar back mentioned Beam barrels, either way I hope it's good stuff. I liked Bryson City but it was a haul from where we were staying.

I did. I happened to go during national Session beer day, and they tapped Springer Sunrise Session IPA which was very enjoyable, also. Other than that, the ATX and the Blonde were my favorites. The Brown is just a little too light for my liking.

    They are Jack Daniel barrels.

P.S. I had 3 bottles in the mid 300's and the two I have had so far were fine, just a FYI.

Noon Day is definitely their best brew by far. They just recently hired a new head brewer and he has some great new ideas for the trail magic series from what I was told.

Nantahala is definitely one of the better breweries I have been to in NC outside of Asheville.

Awesome info on the new brewer. I hop they keep the whole hophead deal going. I'd like to see them try some bigger beers, stouts and barleywines and such. They do make some delicious hoppy beers though. I'm extra excited to get my two growlers full of Noonday in the coming weeks.
