    Hello,
I just came upon this article and it got me thinking how many BAs out there run trails? If you do, which trails do you run? I have a nice little Trail system called Gatineau Park just outside Ottawa which consists of roughly of 600km, and most importantly what is your go to beer after your runs/races?

I am a trail runner. Just ran my first trail marathon last summer, Grand Island Trail Marathon in the U.P of Michigan. Here in Charlottesville we have a trail that wraps around the city, hilly wooded trails connected by city roads, that is about 20 miles. A little bit outside of the city there are all kinds of trails around Shenandoah National Park and a few Nation Forests. After my runs I reach for a nice hoppy refreshing beer. From pale ales to DIPA's depends on what my plans are for afterwards, but its hard to resist a beer after a nice hard run.

    Cheers

I used to run the trails near pensacola beach when i was stationed down there. 15 miles a day, 5 days a week. I loved it. I've slacked off since I came back home but I'm planning to start up again this summer.

I'm not a runner... only when chased, really. However, I do the Terrapin Mountain Half Marathon in Sedalia, VA each year. I think of it more as a timed hike than anything... you're going up and down the mountain. There are crazy people running a 50K along the same trail as well (they have extra spurs of course). I don't train, but I get okay times. As long as I get back before they serve the lunch, I'm happy.

Just have to go to Devils Backbone Outpost after the race... maybe even beforehand, too.

I road run only to get better at trail running.
Nothing like running a trail and then drinking a pale.
My go-to post trail run beers are all cans of Dales, Hop Nosh or Full Nelson.
Go-to trail here in Richmond is the North Bank - Buttermilk hookup that hugs the James River...about 6 miles with an extra 3 miles into Forest Hill Park if the mood strikes...nothing like the elevation out at Wildcat and/or Rip Rap up in Shenandoah, but it gets the job done!

I used to run trails a few years back. I got out of it and in turn got out of shape. I miss it a lot. Used to run some trails in Southern Orange County NY as well as cross country courses. We have a lot of high school cross country crosses in the area that traverse some really nice land and its all open to the public in general. We also have the Appalachian Trail which runs through the area.

Greenway (Santos) trail system just south of Ocala, FL. Great trails all year. Perfect in winter and shady in summer. Afterwards a Swamphead Brewery Big Nose IPA is perfect!

We host a trail run & brewery party every April. We usually get 75-100 runners. Check out our website or facebook page for details about this year's run on 4/25/15.

Not a trail runner but the quote for the article that got me was ... "dont fancy spending 100$ on mediorce wine". I know this is beeradvocate but you can drink really good wine for that and less. LOL.

I run trails almost exclusively, and it is very common to see people drinking beer after a run (usually craft). I have definitely had my share. Trail running offers more fun, scenery, wildlife and challenge than tradition road running.

I run road races and OCRs. OCRs are basically trail runs with obstacles, so it's trail running adjacent.

I don't really have a go to beer after I run. I usually wait at least a few hours to make sure muscle recovery isn't impacted too much. When I do drink after a run it's probably something like a hefeweizen or an amber lager.

I try to run trails when I can - not easy when you live in NYC. Road run a bit too. Cycling is my main thing. Either way, after any of these, a pale ale is my go to. Peeper, for example, always goes down fast.

I do here in Virginia. Usually in the Shenadoah National park but also surrounding trails.

I like trail running. I like how it forces you to use stabilizing muscles and hip flexors more than just the same old muscles you would use if running on treadmills or flat roads. I've got this park about 10 miles away called Nockamixon. It's great for running. 9 miles of hilly single track in some woods surrounding a big lake. Or sometimes Wissahickon park in philly for an alternate.

I don't have a go to beer afterword, but since I'm generally running in summer months it could be anything from a lager to pale ale/IPA. I actually would prefer it if I could display the discipline to not drink after a hard workout, because it's not really what your muscles want.

I just crave beer extra hard after shredding trails for some reason.

I read the title and thought you were talking about drinking beer while running the trails. I was going to say that was a bad idea.

I used to run a 5 mile wooded trail on a bluff about 4 times a week, then I moved to LA and I did more long distance hiking, because my ankles have always been bad. That has all stopped though because I tore my Achilles tendon a little under 3 years ago. Now I am just trying to get all the weight I gained off, and get endurance back. But I found wheat beers to be the most refreshing after a good sweat.

I love trail running. I only run one trail race a year and it's only a half marathon. I don't live in an area with a lot -- or any actually -- trail options. But I do love beer after a run. All of my early morning WBAYDN posts on Saturdays are after a 10 miler (on the boring streets). Any beer works to answer the question.

Last year I ran the Jones Beach Trail (about 5 miles):
and at the beach itself was SmorgasBar, which hosted numerous local craft options. I didn't partake though. If I'm going to drink after jogging it's going to be much later. Hours.

I do distinctly remember consuming a dark saison I wasn't too fond of from Stillwater after this trail in Queens though:

Maybe not the best post-run choice.

I didn't know we had so many runners on here.

My wife and I run ultra marathons anything from 50milers to 100milers, and my wife took it once step further by running a 200miler.

My most rememberable trail race with a beer starts with running Virgil's crest 50miler which was an outstanding/grueling race. I did quite well finished 9th in a time of 9hrs and change. I was handed a beer, an Anderson valley GOSE!!! That was my first sour EVER. I highly recommend to never try your first sour after running 50miles with no solid food in your stomach. Had a couple people laughing with my contorting face.
