Here are some details from Chris:

    Round 1:
Red wine obelus, Chardonnay obelus, wild turkey bêtise (FOBAB), red wine bêtise

In addition to the released bottles, we will also be selling bottles of our Honey Saison (Biere du Ruche) that was bottled with Brettanomyces and uses local honey from Heritage Prairie Farms in Geneva, as well as our Brettanomyces beer "Peur", which uses a strain of wild yeast from Fantome. It is expressively fruity, with a slight tartness.

    Round 2:
Presque (Whiskey)- Flemish Red (or as the name translates to, "almost" red). This is a blend of 3 different whiskey barrels, a freshly dumped barrel, a second use barrel, and a third use barrel.
Presque (Wine)- This is a different batch, with a slightly different grain bill than the Whiskey version, for a slightly lower gravity beer aged in a red wine barrel.
Presque (Apple Brandy)- Same batch as the wine version, but this one is aged in a barrel that originally held Bourbon, then Apple Brandy from the Cider Farm in Wisconsin.
Pentameter- IL Lambic inspired ale- open fermented with a clean ale yeast, then transfered to neutral wine barrels with souring cultures for almost a year.

    Round 3:
Sporadic #1- Open Fermented/Barrel Aged Wild Saison- 7%abv Brewed January 2014. This is a saison using spelt, oat, wheat, vienna and munich malt. A little bit darker in color, almost orange, with a firm acid profile.

Sporadic #2- Open Fermented/Barrel Aged Wild Saison- 5%abv Brewed in March 2014. Light, spritzy sour saison utilizing a large portion of unmalted wheat, for a rustic graininess. Similar grainbill to a traditional Lambic, hopped with whole leaf cascade harvested locally in a friend's back yard.

When did the email mention the next event was planned for? I cannot seem to find it in my trash. Unless anyone else has heard any news.

    Upcoming release

    Sunday, May 31st at 11am-4pm

Aquanaut Beer Co. 5435 N. Wolcott Ave Chicago, IL 60640

Guests- You may bring 1 guest. One… If you need to bring more, please message me prior for approval.

BIG CHANGE… THIS IS IMPORTANT!!!- When we began this program, throwing beer after beer into Oak, we didn’t fully consider the fact that our stock of beer after leaving One Trick would still be finishing so long after we moved/expanded. Because of this, every beer you have received so far has been produced in Lansing. This is why your paypal goes to them, and so do your checks and cash payments. Having the releases at Aquanaut helps us centralize everything in a space large enough to hold all of you crazy beer people, but it isn’t a retail location, that is, not yet. Since we hold private parties, and members have to check in, we can allow people to drink and pick up their bottles, but with Aquanaut actively pursuing their own taproom license, we will not be selling bottles or draft beer. However, we do have a solution that we think you will all appreciate…

Drafts- They will be free! We will have plenty on tap, and it is yours to enjoy. We will still be collecting donations for the Muscular Dystrophy Association by the way of tips at the bar and raffle, so please continue your generosity, as we collected almost $3,000 over the last 3 releases! You will also be allowed to continue the pre-event bottle share throughout the event, though we encourage you to pick up after yourself. We also plan to put a couple kegs of sour beer at one or two of our favorite draft accounts in the city to encourage you to support them as well after leaving the release, though we will give specifics on that at the event.

Extra Bottle Sales- Our good friends at the Beer Temple have offered to act as our surrogate online bottle shop for this purpose. They will have a private link to purchase bottles on their online store, and the bottles will be available this Sunday and for the following 60 days for pickup, though we encourage you to pick up right away, so they do not have to store excess bottles. In order to buy, you must give your name, which will be checked against your ID and the membership sheet that I will provide. For people who have trustees picking up for them, you may still make the purchase, and the Beer Temple will have the name of your trustee on record. Please, do not share this link with anyone, as it will do them no good. Individuals not in the membership program are not allowed to purchase bottles, and they will just be refunded, less the fees incurred by the purchase. Please do not have your trustee purchase bottles on top of your bottles either. The link will go out to everyone when it is activated tonight or tomorrow.

    Beers you will receive-

-Cherry Pentameter- remember Pentameter, our Lambic inspired ale from the first period? Well it’s back, in Kriek form!

-Betise- This is the second batch of our sour brown ale aged in whiskey barrels, and it is delightful.

-Sporadic #3- The third in a serious of whatever we feel like brewing sour barrel aged saisons. This version has a bit of Munich malt, for a bigger malt body, but is still super dry and refreshing.

-Blackberry Maigre- This is our sessionable sour wheat farmhouse ale (in the vein of a Berliner weiss) but we then age it in oak barrels with a ridiculous amount of blackberries.

-Growler of Maigre- We bottled our regular sour wheat farmhouse ale in your growlers. These are bottle conditioned, so they will age better than the fresh hopped saison you might have received last period.

Extra Beers Available for Members on the Beer Temple’s private sale (on top of all extra bottles of membership released beers)

-Buckley- you know what it is! Imperial Breakfast Stout

-Bark Lord- Same as Buckley, but with Cinnamon

    -Cuvier- Barrel fermented sour saison

-Oak Aged Obelus Galaxy- Brett Saison that was aged in barrels that previously held Pentameter. Champagne-like and developing acidity in the bottle.

-Obelus: Galaxy- Brett Saison with Galaxy hops

Many beers will have a bottle limit to allow everyone a chance to get some.

Secondary Release- The following Sunday, June, 7th we will be down at One Trick from 11-3 handing out bottles to anyone who couldn’t make it to Aquanaut. We will also be selling extra bottles on site for this occasion. Even if you make the release, you are still welcome to come down and get extras.

Renewing membership- This next membership period will be slightly different than any before it, as it will only contain a single release event. Because it would be a logistical/tax nightmare to split up every payment to both One Trick Pony and Aquanaut, and because One Trick only has 6 beers left of ours, we are doing a short membership session. You may pay directly for this session at Sunday’s release. The cost will be $135, which includes tax. Cash or Check accepted. Paypal invoices will go out soon

    You will receive:

6 bottles of barrel aged beer

Entrance for you and a guest to our release event

    Transient Shirt

2 Fancy Transient Glasses (like, really fancy this time)

    Canvas 6 bottle carrier

First right to purchase extra bottles and to rejoin for the following session

I've been in it since the first release and I think it's completely worth it. The events and beer are awesome. This next round of beers has me really excited. It keeps getting better and better in my opinion.

Great time yesterday with @doublej584j @schmidtmattsays & @jaqo4 amongst many new friends we met throughout the day. What a superb event despite the cool weather. Everything was smooth. The hoppy saison and blackberry maigre were tap highlights. The bottleshare was on point. Looking forward to getting into these bottles.

Kinda bummed they stopped tapping barrel aged stuff around 2:30-3pm. I didn't even use my tickets, figured they should be no rush and plenty to go around since it was ticketed. (I didn't get there until 2)

Has anyone run into Chris recently or heard any rumors of when the summer membership release is going to be? I'm sure Chris is super busy with the new space in Michigan, but I haven't seen anything since early June when the renewal email went out.
