Has anyone ever been a part of this? If so, how has the experience been for you in terms of ease of pickup and variety of options? Thanks in advance!
I received a membership for the holidays actually. Haven't gone yet but will try this weekend and let you know. I will say that the hours are a bit inconvenient though: weekends, noon-5. It would be one thing if the tasting room were open later and you could make a night of it, but the way it is it's kind of a trek you have to make to pick up a two 750s during a weekend afternoon. Still excited though!
I was in the last iteration. Their beers are great, but it's kind of a hike for me, especially in the winter. Their Harvest (H1, H2) beers are some of my favorites. As for your questions, it's very easy to do the pickup. They have 2 beers at the beginning of every month. They send out an email with descriptions. Sometimes they do mid-month releases of other stuff. As for variety, they definitely stick to the farmhouse theme - lots of brett beers, saisons, etc. I've never had a bad beer from them.
I was a member from June through whenever. I stopped picking up bottles because they weren't that interesting. Some of the beers sounded awesome, but never seemed to be around. Maybe I was just bad at showing up. We get such good distro on so many great beers, I don't think I'll be renewing any time soon. On the bright side, once you're in LIC, you're privy to a fun little beer adventure hitting up Big Alice, Rockaway, LIC Beer, and Alewife!
I was gifted a csb membership last Xmas. The beer and experience is pretty awesome. I've had numerous conversations with the Brewers during pick ups. The location makes life a bit difficult, so if you live in LIC or greenpoint this is a no brainer. They are flexible about picking up, so there was a month where I skipped due to schedule, then got 4 bottles the next month. This is a great way to support a high quality small brewery. You'll be forced to try some things that are different, which I liked. Were they all winners in my book? No, but more often than not they were great. You also have the chance to sample most things before committing to a bottle, and you can double up on a beer if you really like it. Oh, and no lines, no mules, no bs, just nice people making good farmhouse ales in a rather funky out of the way location.
There's a chance someone got this as a gift for me so I was just curious. Thanks for the responses. I live in the UWS so I guess it's a bit of a trek but not the end of the world.
Thanks guys.... Just moved of out my office in Hunters point so this to late for me now that I work in Garden City.... Guess ill stop by and try out their drafts.
They dont have drafts or a tasting room. They will give you about a 1oz pour from the bottles for sale.
