I want to go to Other Half for this Saturdays release. However, my girl says it would be easier to use the train. I insisted on driving but she works in the city and suggests it is better to take the train. Is it legal to transport beer from NY to CT on the train? I also plan to bring zip-bag coolers. Please let me know your thoughts!

I don’t see how transporting beer on the train could possibly be an issue.

Just do walk on drinking one and throw the empty can at the conductor.

I really don't think its an issue, you purchased the items and are taking them home.

This is absolutely not an issue.

Unless you run into state laws regarding the quantity of booze going over the state line, certain limits exist, I know in MA and ME.

The mode of transport shouldn't effect things. It's legal to fly with booze so long as it's checked and under a certain quantity. You can even take alcohol in and out of the country on flights so long as it's under a certain quantity (there may be alcohol content limits, but beer rarely if ever exceeds that).

If you're worried about the specific train company's take on alcohol, I'd search their site, not here. Otherwise I would presume you mean Amtrak, in which case - yes you can bring on your own alcohol. You can even drink it! Within certain regulations.

    Amtrak source.

How many pallets of beer are you bringing back? Do you intend to use your own forklift to load the boxcar or will you be relying on the railroad's?

Make sure you take something with wheels, whether you take the train or drive. And, for whatever it's worth, I've done the OH release thing before and did find parking after a few minutes (although it was a bit of a walk), if that's what concerns your girlfriend.

When border checkpoints between states becomes an issue, we're all in trouble. I can imagine a comical farce about craft bootleggers versus craft revenuers like Spy vs Spy......A train ride with choice beer doesn't quite equate to Midnight Express. As others have said, you're good to go!
