Went to Cottonwood over the weekend and loved it! Great prices and atmosphere.

Loved what I saw on the menu and the prices look good. Just need to find some time to swing by and sample the fare.

Find some Southern Star Pro-Am 2012. It looks like ass, but everything else about it is absolutely STELLAR!! It is a top-tier IIPA.

I found Hay Merchant's steak night to be a rip off.

Portions are beyond small, and the steak was only okay. I recommend them for beer selection, but find the food in general to be overpriced.

I find Hay Merchant's steak night to be awesome. It's a smallish steak (by Houston standards, perhaps), but it was super tasty and it's not that expensive. If you're a beer lover, it's hard to find a better meal for the price.

I find better meals for way cheaper all the time...

The steak wasn't bad, but nothing any better than what you could get at a chain steak restaurant.

I do love me some HM pig ears though! Meat chips are good too.

Agree. A chain steak restaurant like Morton's or Ruth's Chris...

You consider their steak that good?! I was going to go with Outback or Salt Grass.

and 4-6 oz of steak for $15 is pretty high for that.

I wanted to love $15 steak night because of how good some of the other food they make was, but it just didn't live up in quality. I felt at least if expensive, their other food was really good quality.

    Back on topic.

Petrol, Hay Merchant, and Mongoose Vs Cobra are all good beer spots. I like the Sugar Land Saucer better than the downtown location, but both have a great selection.

I found Hay Merchant to be a pretentious, overpriced joint with a not-so-good beer list. Indian Wells on the list?? Shudder....but Live Oak Hefe on tap made up for it. As DanzBorin said...minute portions on everything.

I usually just head up Westheimer to Vintroplis when I'm in town. More of a wine bar but a solid & reasonably priced selection. No snottiness too even tho it's a wine spot.

Check out shepherd park its a great alternative for food and their beer selection is pretty decent. I heard about it from someone at the petrol station when I asked about lunch there.

I think Petrol doesn't open for lunch because those damn hippies don't like waking up that early...
