Trappistes Rochefort Triple Extra

Well, I guess it's not surprising that when a legendary brewery does something new, somebody is gonna sh*t on it.

If there's one thing I learned from watching Caddyshack...

Better that than the poophouse, unless there's a party going on in there, I guess.

Had a Rochefort 6 in my basket the other day but pulled it out to make room for a couple of Germans. Definitely excited to get my lips around this one, though.

 

Don't see this being an issue. However, if Monks doesn't have success in their current pursuit, than unlikely for the rest of the country

 

If we don't end up getting it over here in the states ... well let's just say I'm a little overdue on another trip to Belgium anyway.

But I'm pretty sure it will make it's way here eventually.

 

Not seen it around here yet (Netherlands, neighboring Belgium).

As far as I understood from one or two Belgian sources it is a heavy blonde or "Blonde extra-forte". A modern remake of a hoppy beer that was produced about 100 years ago at Rochefort.
Limited production still, but it not intended as a one time only. So it will find its way to the States sooner or later.

 

So, it's not a Tripel then?

My read is: "closer to Westmalle than other Tripels", so I couldn't be more stoked.

Adding another common Belgian style is perfectly normal and ok with me. It would be like when Weihenstephan introduced their Pils.

It must be a Tripel. But maybe not as we know it. Not sure until I get my hands on one.

 

All the pictures above seem to mention 7.5 abv, however the official pic cleary shows 8.1 abv.

I will be raiding the stores as of tomorrow . Rochefort 10 is my only perfect five on BA, because,... well... it's a perfect beer.

Honestly don't get triples enough, hopefully this rectifies that

 

I have a Trappistes Rochefort chalice that is waiting patiently for me to track this down. The beer manager at my liquor store has some feelers out, so hopefully soon. This would make a nice addition to my 12 Days of Christmas lineup.
