As a lover of Scotch Ales, I've been waited to start this thread for ten years. This beer was brewed in 2010, came in at 10% ABV and suggested to "enjoy by 2020." I bought two bottles back in 2010, drank one immediately and gave it a 4.32 ranking. I've been sitting on the second bottle until this evening and just popped it open. While I wished it had maintained its carbonation levels a bit better, this is still a stunningly complex and compelling beer. The flavors both mellowed and became more complex at that same time. One of the more reward BA experiences I've had (waiting to do a comparison 10 years apart).

Anyone with similar experience for Traquair 2020 or other beers?

I have quite a few 2010 beers that I'll be drinking this year. mostly barleywines and dark Belgians. Drinking a 2010 Southern Tier Backburner right now

I popped my Traquair on January 3rd this year. Unfortunately i only bought one bottle in 2012 so i have no basis for comparison. I was thoroughly pleased with how well it drank. I stored it part of the time in my beer fridge and also aged it in my wine fridge.
As my palate has changed over time, so have my aging periods. I used to be more sensitive to the strength of barrel aged beers. I remember how shockingly "hot" BCBS was when i first starting buying this back in the late 2000's. Now i store BCBS in my regular beer fridge and my goal is to consume them within 2 years of purchase. Same with other barrel aged brews.
I used to have Bigfoot going back 6-7 years age wise for a number of years but now i do not have more than the last 3 years in the fridge as i enjoy this more with the hoppy edge to it. Beer sure is a fun journey any way you look at it!
