CHEVY CHASE, MD (September 15, 2014) – Just in time for Oktoberfest, today TravelChannel.com launches a new short-form web series "Microbrew Madness" – a spirited journey across America to discover some of the nation's best craft breweries. Each of the 16 six-minute webisodes on tap features one of four hosts: Lori Griffis (TravelChannel.com's "Girls Gone Bayou"), Ewan Porter (Australian pro-golfer and commentator), Olivia Speranza (TravelChannel.com's "Terminal Bliss at SFO") and Ryan Van Duzer (TravelChannel.com's "Bike Tour of California Wineries").

Griffis, Porter, Speranza and Van Duzer take viewers to different regions of the United States, tasting some of the top local microbrews in 16 different cities. The cities visited include: Atlanta, Ga.; Boulder, Colo.; Chicago, Ill.; Cleveland, Ohio; Grand Rapids, Mich; Hermosa Beach, Calif.; Lakewood, N.Y.; Loveland, Colo.; Minneapolis, Minn.; Nashville, Tenn.; Portland, Ore.; San Antonio, Texas; St. Louis, Mo.; Tampa, Fla.; Tempe, Ariz. and Winston-Salem, N.C. They speak with chefs and brew masters, learn special food pairings and drink in the history to discover why each microbrewery is a can't miss destination.

Having only watched the Midwest ones so far one thing stands out, Founders seems to be a bit more tight with the bourbon barrel beer than goose island:slight_smile:

Cool series from what I've seen so far. They definitely seem to suffer from being wacky and not taking it as seriously host-to-host, but I am kind of a curmudgeon and that is kind of the way TV is nowadays.
Either way, entertaining and informative. Thanks for the heads up!

Six minutes per episode? How are they able to cover even the key points of a brewery in just six minutes while also trying to squeeze in food pairings?

It's travel channel man, they usually stick to such deep topics like "doughnut wars" and "worlds largest RV". Just be glad they're branching out at all.

I saw Chevy Chase, MD and got excited . . . for nothing. They have offices in MD but don't cover a single MD brewery.

I mean Berlin, MD where Burley Oak is located, was voted America's Coolest Small Town.

What a cool blast from the past! I remember "microbreweries"! I'm going to click through and find out what part of microbrewery madness they're covering...will it be the late 80's, or will it go all the way through the age of common usage of the word and take us to the end of the 1990's?

Either way it's cool that they're going to be focused on INDEPENDENT breweries that brew 15,000bbls or less per year.

    Edit: I took a look and I, umm, yeah...I don't even...uh, nevermind...

Watched a few...they're better than most of the regular Travel Channel broadcast shows. Always fun to learn more about different craft breweries. Planning my next vacation!

I will have to check it out. Web based always seems to slip away from me.

AGREED!! Midwest and Northeast is an odd combo to start, but no New England? We'll just keep it a secret from the general, non-BA, beer asleep public.

Wished Creature Comforts from Athens, GA could have been added as well as either Boneyard or Melvin for the Mountain Region as opposed to having two Colorado breweries.

Southwest included California yet that's the best they can do for California? Even worse, they picked one from Arizona.

They are just jumping into some craft craze bandwagon. Doesn't seem they are really taking it seriously.
