    Hello out there.

my wife and I are traveling down to New Zealand, Tahiti and Bora Bora December 29th for a few weeks and want to bring some of our favorite beers with us.

Has anyone had any issues or would like to give advice/recommendations on this for customs?

    I/we greatly appreciate it. Thanks!!

It all depends on the customs rules of each country. In NZ for example, each person is allowed to bring in 4.5 liters of beer duty free and then has to pay NZ$5 per 6 pack after that.

In Tahiti it looks like the duty free limit is 2 liters of beer per person. Bora Bora is part of the same country, so it should be the same. You can look this stuff up pretty easily.

Never had any trouble. But pack it well, and in ziplocks in case of breakage. Have fun.

I believe you can but your best bet is to contact customs or the party in charge of this and ask them directly so your getting legit facts.

I guess something else to consider is your luggage allowance. Beer is heavy. Also, there are some great breweries in NZ is you’re worried about quality.

Good beer for sure in NZ. We do a hiking and beer instagram page and are bringing just a couple so I’m not too concerned with weight.

I've traveled all over and 90% of the times take my own beer with me. I haven't had any issued with beer in my check in bags.......yet. Fingers crossed. My last 2 trip were to Hilo and Seoul, Korea. I wouldn't claim any beer. I haven't been pulled aside going through customs for a random check. I usually bring cans these days. Sometimes bottles. Zip lock bags for all beers. Pack accordingly. I will also bring back cans and bottles form the countries I visit, if its worth bringing back. I like to share oversees and back home.

If you are going to New Zealand first, I would just pack the ziplocks and pick up the beer there and carry it to the other islands. New Zealand isn't a good beer desert.

My experience, DO NOT, put it in your carry on. Check it in your bags.

Surely the whole point about travel is sampling the local product. In many cases it is at least as good if not better than what you have at home.New Zealanders have been brewing beer for a long time and have got quite good at it.

Ive flown out of country with a bottle of Eagle Rare and a few bottles of beer in my checked bags - no issues ever. There are limitations in quantities with airlines and/or countries.
