Monday night i will be flying in for work related shit... will be staying in Oak Brook IL Mon through Thursday. I will not have a car. I am interested in heading into Chicago. How easy is that to do from Oak Brook? How much would an Uber ride cost? Is there a train to take in?

And if i do go to Chicago, what are the best places to hit up for great craft beer selection?

Also, what is in the Oak Brook area? I can't imagine that i will head into to Chicago all three nights.

Uber will cost about $25-$30 if there's no traffic. That might be your best bet. There are trains, but nothing super close to oak brook.

Bangers and Lace, and fat pour would be good destinations to hit up, specially because they're close to each other and Wicker Park is great.

Beer Temple and Puerto Rican Food and Liquor for bottle shops. Oak brook has a binnys that's worth hitting up also.

If you want to take the train, you can uber from oak brook to the CTA blue line station in Forest Park(9-10mile drive). From here, you can hop in the blue line which will take you right into the city.

I'll second old town pour house. It's a Sister bar to Howells and hood. They have atleast a few things on tap that someone traveling in from out of state prolly can't get in their own neck of woods.

The food is great too. Get the duck nachos

Where are you staying in Oak Brook? Noon Whistle Brewery is pretty solid and it's maybe 3 miles from Oak Brook Mall in Lombard. Pour House as mentioned is solid, and just a bit down the road there's Beer House in Yorktown Mall which is also respectable. Oak Brook is mainly all offices..so as mentioned these few spots in OB are your best bets without heading downtown or going 10 miles or so away from where you're at.

You're close to the Binny's in Oak Brook.

Yeah, you walk to that Binny's then, as well as Pour House..it's a mile away. Noon Whistle would be about $7 uber each way from there and is worth checking out for a local spot.

Another pretty cool place is Lunar Brewing in Villa Park. Forgot about that one..you'll be about 4 miles south.

I just had a mega haul from Binny's and was very happy with what I got.

Talk to some of the beer guys at the store and they might offer you some things up from the back, that might not be on the shelf.

If you do this on Monday night you might spare yourself having to go into town and haul back all that beer.

Bavarian Lodge in Lisle is nearby and topnotch beer on tap. Nearby good breweries with tap rooms include Solemn Oath in Naperville, Lunar in Villa Park, Two Brothers in Warrenville.

Flesk has good cans at local stores. Corner Cottage on North Ave might be your best bet for a nearby liquor store. There are a couple other decent bars - one in Oak Brook mall. There is no reason to go all the way into the city just for beer unless you have to get Pipeworks or Spiteful beers. There's freshies all over.

if you make it in the city hit up Revolution on Kedzie, Half Acre on N Lincoln, the downtown Binnys for take home oddities.
