I'll be in Stratford/shelton/Milford area in a couple weeks (sept. 28-30)and was wondering what would be available and where to find it, best things to grab this time of year, etc.

I'm open to trading locals. Can bring some good stuff from the Midwest, Perennial (Peach Berliner, Abraaxas) Schlafly, GI (Juliet, bramble), Founders(FMB, KBS, CBS, Better Half)...

I'd be more interested in buying but could be pursueded to trade if some Hill Farmsteads are involved and with their Festival the weekend before I would hope someone has some.

Will I fare better buying in NYC? Or in CT?

In my experience, anything you can get in NYC you can get in CT and cheaper.

Your biggest selection will be at a store in NY - I'd recommend either DeCicco's in Ardsley or Whole Foods Bowery.

While you're in CT, though, you should definitely make a run up the Merritt to NEBCO. Fill a growler or two at the brewery, get a tour from the guys, and then check out Amity Wine & Spirits across the street for pretty much a full selection of everything that's available in CT.

If you want to make a day of drinking in the area, head downtown and check out Prime 16, Cask Republic, and Modern Apizza. Mikro in Hamden and Delaney's in Westville (not far from NEBCO) are also well worth a visit.

We'll be in NY basically just to switch trains at Grand Central. We'll have car in CT, but driving around for beer isn't on the wife's list. We're headed to Shelton anyway so Woodbridge is an easy sell.

Sounds like a trip to NEBCO is required.

Out of curiosity are bottles of Hill Farmstead available anywhere? Limited availability I'm sure but do you have to drive to VT to even buy some, farthest point south its available?

For the most part, it's brewery only. Every once in a while, you can find it in bottle at other VT stores. No bottles outside of VT.

If you are in that area also stop the the New England Beverage Company in Orange--that is my go to place in the area...Huge selection, singles, and friendly service.

I thought there might have been more people chiming in with HF bottles looking to trade....at least that was the hope.

They are very few and far between. You practically have to drive to Canada to get them...

I honestly wouldn't expect too many people to jump at you with their HF bottles for most of what you've listed. You might have some luck scaring something up with the CBS or Bramble, though. Maybe try posting in the ISO/FT forum as most people are probably assuming that this is a "where to go" type thread rather than an IP trade sorta thing.

As for what to pick up: Anything NEBCo (obvious consensus), perhaps the random Captain Lawrence bottle......too bad you can't cross over into Westchester County. Lots of great stuff over there as well.

We're starting to think flying into Laguardia on Thursday won't be the bet idea with our 20 month old. How s the infrastructure in CT? Hope your all doing well.

Everythings pretty much cool here in CT. Yeah, power outages here and there of course and some damage on the coast.Nothing like NYC/Jersey by far, thank god.All in all, really nothing to worry about for the most part in CT.
    Enjoy ur time here.

    Cheers

Right but is getting out of NYC a possibility? I mean logistically? I'd rather nt land and sit in traffic for hours.
