I will be in Ithaca NY this weekend what are some beers you could recommend that I pick up?

Finger lakes beverage center is an outstanding bottle shop. I'd definitely grab some fresh bottles pf FP, but check out the extremely well-priced Horseheads bottles (IPA and hefe) as well as cortland brewing's bourbon barrel aged flight 410. FLBC also has a growler station w/ samples upon request.
Great food/beer @ bandwagon, I enjoy their raspberry jalapeño ale...but don't remember if they allow growler fills.

Growler Fills ARE allowed at The Wagon. Their beer has improved over the last few months, and if you go after 10PM you can get most of their beers for $3 a pint. Last week they also had Southern Tier's bourbon barrel backburner on-tap. It was obscenely expensive (small tulip for $10), but really tasty.

Finger Lakes Beverage Company is a must stop. I also recommend the horseheads beers, especially the IPA. Ruination 10th is on the shelf there, as is Firestone XV (not sure if those sold out in your neck of the woods).

Last week Westy had horseheads hot-jala-heim as their $3 special, but its probably kicked by now.

Feel free to BM me with more questions, even if its something pretty specific.

Hot-jala is a "top 5 best chili beer" and is pretty damn tasty...also available in bottles.

I meant a fresh growler of FP at the brewery if possible

Try the Ithaca Cascazilla Red Ale-a great beer from Ithaca Beer Co.

Do what shrek806 says. Go to the Ithaca Brewery.

I go to school in Ithaca and can't say I have ever been pleased with any of Ithaca Brewery's offerings

To each his own. Perhaps familiarity breeds contempt.

Really? I'm not a fan of everything they do, but Flower Power and Cascazilla are fantastic. Groundbreak isn't too shabby and I haven't been disappointed with anything from the Excelsior line.

If Ithaca still has their Fourteen Anniversary Ale, definitely pick up a bottle of that (might be gone though, it was released in April). Agree with the Flower Power and Cascazilla suggestions, absolutely.

There's also a new brewery in my college town of Cortland that I haven't been able to check out yet but might be worth a visit- Cortland Beer Company.

I'm curious what tolkienfanatic prefers over Ithaca beers? Could it be Corona or Dos Equis?? Speckled Hen or Becks?? Ithaca makes solid beers. Love the Old habit Excelsior brew

FP is really an excellent IPA, hard to believe any IPA fan wouldn't at least like it. I love the stuff.

Thanks for the information. Finger Lakes Beverage Center was outstanding. They had a great selection.

I sometimes make the trip from Syracuse just to wander around the aisles of Finger Lakes Beverage Center.

I was surprised- I had the CB Caged Alpha Monkey and Ithaca FP on draught and actually preferred the Alpha Monkey over the FP. A More true to IPA style than Ithaca FP I thought

Alpha monkey has been getting...skimpier/thinner/less flavorful than it used to be...just me?
