Traverse city area

I noticed it the first time I went in, about a week affter it opened. When they released Love Butter I thought it was a joke

 

Reviving this thread to ask a few questions. I'll be in Traverse City in a week. Spending a 4-5 days there, hiking/outdoors stuff during the day and brewery touring during the evening. I should be able to visit most, if not all of the micros in town, but I was wondering if any of you guys had made it to Rare Bird yet? The beer and food menu combination look pretty enticing. Also, what's the best store to find Michigan only beers? Specifically looking for Vivant, Greenbush, Griffin Claw, Odd Side, etc... and yes, we will be going to Shorts, it's going to be the first stop after the drive from Columbus.

 

Rare bird is solid. Very cool environment. Duck nachos! Store....the smoke house in bellaire has decent singles of Michigan beers.

 

Consider getting some canned beers from Petoskey Brewing too if you're looking for Michigan-only beers. They put out some very good beers. (Horny Monk is a great Dubble, if you like that style.)

 

Also Blackrocks Brewery has some canned beers that you can only get in northern michigan. Just bought a 6pk of their 51k IPA when I was up in TC/Elk Rapids area this weekend for Short's Fest

 

Love some Blackrocks and happy to be able to buy it in Holland and Zeeland.

 

If you're in TC, go to the Beverage Company. They'll have the best selection. They will have everything you mentioned. I was in Tilly's on saturday and they had some stuff too, including Greenbush's Brother Benjamin.
