So heading up in the mitten to TC tomorrow and looking for a good fish fry that also has good beer.
    Any help would be appreciated!
    Cheers!

My ex father in law lives there, but I do remember good times there. Good luck, have fun, go watch a Beach Bums game.

That Blue Tractor place might have a fish fry, not sure. I've never went there, but honestly, I'm only responding here to bump this thread up so that some Michiganders can see this and respond better than me.

Are you asking about a fish fry like in Door County? If so, i have not heard of those in TC. We have been in the TC area the last 4 nights, haven't seen any thing about fish frys.

Scalawags on State St. is said to have excellent Whitefish.

Correcting myself now that I'm thinking about it - I think you meant those "Friday Night Fish Frys" perhaps at an American Legion or something like that, the actual "fry" itself. I put down Blue Tractor thinking you were looking for "fried fish" - my fault last night for responding half asleep. Honestly, I can't remember much directly in Traverse City as far as a true "fish fry" but some of those smaller towns on the outskirts to the East I think will do them ie Elk Rapids (half hour away - roughly), Williamsburg, Mayfield.

Also, I wonder if either one of these guys might know more @miwestcoaster or @Mothergoose03 might know more.

Like @hopfenunmaltz I have not seen any places with a fish fry in TC. The best bet would be to search breweries' or good beer bars' food menus online and find those with fish & chips entries. It might be locally-caught fish. I think Leland, which is up near the tip of the Leelanau Peninsula, is known as a fishing village, so maybe a visit to that town will produce a fish specialty restaurant with a 'fresh catch' menu.

For the record, what Door Co does are known as "fish boils".

OP-Scalawag's is fine and walking distance from 7 Monks in TC.

If you go to Leland, the whitefish is good at Bluebird (http://bluebirdleland.com/).
Better known for wine, but they usually have some decent beers as well.
Place is not fancy, especially the bar.

I had the fish & chips at Jolly Pumpkin, on Mission Peninsula, last time I was down that way. Both the food and beer were excellent!

@fishmich is the local expert. I agree with @Mothergoose03 to go to Leland. I saw a foodie tv show a few months back where they made a stop there to eat fish and drink beer. I need to check out Leland myself.

Fishtown and all of Leland were a zoo yesterday. Peak season, and nice weather.

Little Traverse Inn has really good fish and chips. They also had a Fish Pie on the menu, a friend got that and was very happy. Decent beer selection.

Ended up hitting The Cove in Leland. Couple decent brews, very good fish, and amazing views.
    Thanks for all the input!
First time up here and it has been fantastic.
    Cheers!

unfortunately I missed this thread. I have let down the people. Wasn't around the computer too much this weekend. Leland is one of my favorite towns in the state.
