Bissell has been dropping off and on for a couple months. I admit Subby can be hit or miss, but when it's a hit it's a big hit (for me). Lux was part of the last drop I've seen. Lux is a rye so not a good comparison to heady but if you offered me both, I'd take the Lux 8 times out of 10.

I've seen Florens at a few places recently. Give it a shot. It's a good look at what Austin Street produces

It's not all that amazing - maybe in today's world where any time somoene says or does something you don't like, one my BOYCOTT. I can hate someone's thinking and respect their work. My father, on the other hand, can't compartmentalize the two.

I pretty much agree here - if I had even two 8% DIPA's a day (which is far more than I drink), I'd still never be hungover, never be late for work, function fine, etc. It's a lot, but I'm not sure I call that a problem, especially considering the way I used to drink in my 20s, when everthing was about getting drunk for a sporting event. I probably haven't been legit "drunk" in 3 years at this point - all about the flavor and just enjoying the craftsmanship - I still think 1-2 cans a day is excessive, but that doesn't scream "drinking problem" to me.

I honestly didn't even know you can order anything you want in 4-packs, just haven't been paying attention. Maybe it's time I put an order in and go on a little road trip!

You can't. The variety of 4-pack options has greatly increased, but not everything is available in 4-packs. For example, the core beers on the site today are all at a case minimum.

Not counting the trail 6 packs I think Julius might be the only beer you have to buy more than 4 of at the moment which is just absurd enough to ruin the 'everything is in a 4 pack' claim

Well put. I didn’t like the fake-minimum order so I came here to bitch a little and got over it. The beer was good, the staff were friendly and I’ll be back sometime again.

Well, if we're doing 7 Buds on Fri/Sat/Sun, that brings your week night average down quite a bit. Much more manageable. Sounds like you're describing a college kid lol.

Drinking is always a problem, but I'd only consider it a "drinking problem" if you can't hold down a job, beating your wife/kids, DUIs, etc. #justdegeneratethings

Seems like you described a "heavy drinker" which isn't inherently bad (ignoring the poison you're putting in your body).

But going back to the weight discussion, I did exactly this for a year or two of my life. Consistently 2 DIPAs per night plus more on the weekends. It wasn't great for a couple reasons, but weight wasn't one of them because I just cut down on food if I'm consuming extra beer calories.

That's where most people run into trouble. They think NEIPAs just instantly make you fat, but it's because they're not changing their regular diet, which is usually maintenance with a slight bias toward "getting fatter". Just like people who complain that you have no choice but to get fatter as you get older. No, buddy, it's because your body is burning fewer calories but you're eating the same amount that you did 20 years ago. Of course you're gonna get fatter. Ignoring metabolism, I'd say people on average tend to overeat in general though.

One of my biggest pet peeves is people complaining that they have no control over their weight. It's simple thermodynamics and all it takes is a little self control and maybe some light educational reading.

Rambling aside, NEIPAs aren't really that much more calorie dense than Budweiser on an ABV basis. 12oz of Bud Heavy is 150 calories. 16oz of 8% DIPA is equivalent to about 2 Buds (actually 2.13). Internet is telling me a 16oz craft beer is about 200-250 calories, but I think that's a bit low. Let's go with 300-350 calories, a number I vaguely recall hearing that at some point. So yeah, your "one" beer is twice as fattening as 2 Buds, but you're still consuming the same amount of alcohol, which is what defines a "drink", the gold standard for measuring how badly you're poisoning yourself.

At the end of the day, it's not about the number of beers you're putting in your body, it's about the amount of alcohol, something people don't understand... or don't want to. Whenever I'm in doubt, I convert whatever I'm drinking into Budweisers. That's usually good for a reality check. Here's a handy conversion for the less mathematically inclined:

    (x/y)*(a/b) = # of beers

Where a "beer" is defined as y oz and b ABV. x is the number of oz in whatever you're drinking and a is the ABV in that drink. So let's convert a Four Loko to Budweisers:

    (23.5/12)*(14/5) = 5.5 Budweisers. Zoinks!

Anyone who is buying a case of TH or more at any given clip is drinking more than 2 or 3 brews/night. If not, is TH the only beers you drink? If so, please expand you brew selection. Believe me there are many other great beers out there especially in New England.

It seems like every couple months we have to revisit this and I post basically the same thing, I don't get there often and when I do I buy for myself, local friends, and send a box or two to my brother and/or friends around the country. You will always see me leaving with multiple cases, especially now that my friends can just order for themselves and all I have to do it load it into my car. And of course the bigger question, why the hell do so many people care about what others are buying and/or drinking? You buy and drink it your way and I will do it my way.
