The real kicker regarding the Sandwich location is TH teasing...

"Beyond 2021, we are planning huge renovations that will transform this experience to something else altogether. Though we are not yet prepared to share those plans with you yet, we can assure you it will be something to behold."

How? There isn't enough room for what you've already proposed. There are residential homes on two sides, the ocean on another, and I believe the undeveloped plot near them is federal protected land. Maybe they're looking at another property nearby to take pressure off the first one? Move retail (and production?) to another building and keep the beachfront property as a draft only taproom and beer garden?

If you are looking from the water, they've bought the plot to the left of them and the house next to that (again, obviously to the left). So, they've got the main building plus two plots to the East.

I'm not saying it's not going to be anything less than ideal (who wants to shuttle to a brewery or deal with traffic as a tourist or a local?), but they do have a decent size piece of land to work with given all that they've bought. That said, I will likely make the detour at some point once the early reviews are in (unless said reviews are awful). I would always have family in the car with me so unless I can have a decently high confidence in a smooth in and out on-the-fly experience, I will pass.

I wonder if they're going to build a hotel/inn or something.

Well, I'm guessing that first plot you're referring to is going to be the beer garden. Sounds like the house in the next lot is not going to be used commercially. More of a place to stay for ownership and/or employees with the added benefit of being a buffer to the neighbors. So, that covers the current plans.

What I was talking about are the plans they're teasing beyond all that. The Sandwich page on their website mentions that there will be draft, cans and food trucks this year and "something else altogether" in the future. Maybe I'm just reading into too much. I dunno.

I’m assuming an inn of sorts will be going in where the house is

Agreed, something like Dogfish Head’s inn thing. I wonder if Trillium would have done it had they pushed forward with the CT farm plans.

Funny you say that, as Esther has been posting stories of her at the farm and tagging it the last 24 hours.

reminds me of when Trillium acted the victim and claimed they had to slow down their rollout of their farm in CT because they got shamed into paying their employees a fair wage.

Would like to explore Raleigh further, I was only there passing through an early afternoon on a road trip a few years back. Stopped at the Trophy Brewing taproom closest to I-40 and enjoyed a flight there. But I know there are a number of other great places around.

Seriously. The codes and by-laws are online and this one mentioned below is accurate. That alone could cause them problems:

"The bylaw stipulates that the zoning is for moderately dense commercial use “while preserving or enhancing ocean views from highways, protecting character of historic environs, preserving or enhancing landscaping, minimizing visibility of parked autos and avoiding creation of hazards or congestion.”

So I Googled about TH's cidery in CT. I knew that residents there were not happy about it. TH had applied for a liquor license to sell cider there in a retail environment, both to-go and onsite consumption, and residents filed claims objecting. A hearing was held in November 2020, the decision was made in December. The state Liquor Control board ruled in Tree House's favor.

DRAMA!! Good Stuff. I’d bet on the money here hah. It’s hilarious to think that TH, with all their prior experience, could ever possibly think that 17 parking spaces would work for them. Money does certain things to the mind I guess.

Also WTF does TH have against food? Don’t they know that COVID doesn’t like food?!? #science

if you're someone like me who can't handle too much NEIPA/DIPA without sleeping badly, Eureka-Very Green-Eureka is a pretty much unbeatable beer sequence for a warm spring Saturday post-yard work through grill time. So glad they're making more than just DIPAs available again - may it continue.
