I have noticed similar phenomenon. I don’t know if there’s any science to back it, but I’ve noticed beers being a little off right after a long haul. Even if kept cold 100% of the time. After some time to settle in then can once they’re sitting still in my fridge for awhile they seem to improve. It’s mostly hazy IPAs this happens with so I think you’re into something with the yeast maybe. I’ve found treehouse beers specifically to be very finicky and fragile. When they hit the sweet spot there is nothing better, but you gotta treat em like precious cargo. Also there are some (very few) hazy ipa breweries I do not decant and pour carefully. Other half is one (but I often still do just in case). Treehouse you definitely have to leave an ounce behind in the bottom of the can.

Awesome, thanks for the response. I thought I was going crazy, so I'm glad it's not just me.

I always have a 4 hour ride after visits to Sandwich. The beer has been picked up on the way onto the Cape, put in the trunk for 30 minute to the Cape house, then whatever isn’t finished goes in the trunk (covered but not in a cooler - gasp!) for the ride back to CT (minimum 5 hours after a stop) … it tastes exactly the same at home as it did the night before I left the Cape.

Interested in the reaction to 10th Anni Haze

“It doesn’t use the most hops, nor will it be the most opaque beer you’ll ever drink, but it might be the juiciest.”

Secondary instantly plummeted on that line.

There’s still value for Tree House IPA’s? It’s too easy to get now and everyone also insists they can get as good or better off the shelf(I always laugh at that).

I mostly can’t believe Haze and Juice Machine are roughly the same age, but I guess it’s mostly due to Haze being brewed more frequently. This also makes me feel old.

Yeah, same here. I do remember when both came out. Thank god for working EBF 14 and inhaling as much JM as the booth would let me

Definitely feeling old with you, JM only became ‘regular’ like 6ish years ago, right? Haze at least hit the rotation earlier.

My annoying pedant point would be that current Juice Machine really dates back to late December 2015. Despite Tree House celebrating the anniversary this year, the first canned batch in late 2015 was advertised as a significant reworking of the recipe from EBF 2014. Personally I think they just liked the name too much (justifiably!) and wanted to keep using it.

Definitely not opaque like it is now. A bit more bitter. Tastes good.

The mouthfeel is absolutely ridiculous, though. Like the first time having Green out of a growler.

I was posting about the secondary in jest . Agree it’s absolutely excellent

I like it, I think I prefer OG Haze though.

I pretty much only run and train for 5k's, but I'm seriosuly considering the TH Half Marathon this year..... I was thinking of doing the Hartford half this year, so maybe I can use this as a warm up

How is Golden Fern? I almost always stick to the core IPAs and their variants. But GF has me tempted.

I found it too thick and sweet. I’m probably in the minority here, though. If you usually stick to the core beers, it probably won’t be for you imo (I’m similar)

Late last summer, I found it was excellent showcase of Nelson (admittedly, one of my favorite hops) and Peacharine. I presume we are on to a different crop at this point so wouldn't swear same answer now.

I'll grab House Lager Motueka when I go on Friday. Curious about Fresh Peach too - no adjuncts, just Citra, Nelson and Peacharine

Golden fern update: imo it tastes like many Other Half ipas. Not a fan.

Tewksbury question: Is it actually necessary to order cans to go in advance, or can I sit and have a couple of pours and just order cans when I’m about ready to leave, like you can in Charlton?

If I need to do it in advance, it seems like the best move would be to time my visit for the start of the pickup window, grab my cans, and then sit for beers so I’m not rushing to make my pickup. What’s the smart play here?

You can order anytime you want. I’ve pulled into the to go and just ordered. Never a long wait.
