They had a price increase a couple of weeks back on select core beers

Seconded. I like to have a good idea of the ingredients before I buy, or at least feel fairly confident knowing whether there's fruit, lactose, or some other adjunct in there. I can be spared the fluff stories behind a beer and what dimension it will transport me to.

Oh? I suppose that's inevitable. If Green was $3.75 a can in 2015, according to inflationcalculator.com, it should cost today $4.96. That $23 4 pack today would have been $17.40, or just cheaper than the 2L Haze growlers we were filling back then.

Though I live pretty close, I visit TH only about 3-4 times per year, each time buying about a case. I like to grab a pack each of Julius, Green, and Haze. I also try to go when Super Sap is available because it's just phenomenal, so I usually grab a pack of that, or a different DIPA such as Very Green or Doubleganger if they don't have Super Sap. Then a couple of lagers, or if they have Moment of Clarity, a pack of that as well, to round out my case. I don't tend to buy the $20+ packs - I'm sure they're good, but my budget is limited. The value for the Juice Project, Find the Limit, and the guava/vanilla/other stuff added etc. beers just isn't there for me - especially compared to Haze for $17, which is a tremendous bargain and just as good or better than most of the pricier TH beers I have tried.

    This fucking post…

Is probably one of the more logical things I’ve seen posted here in a while. And it’s all true and and dead on. Your transparency and humbleness is appreciated in the days of crazy hazy.

Super Sap was potentially beer of the year for me. The Christmas sap series was unfuckwithable. Why did you remind me :sob:

I'm a firm believer that the core offerings are the way to go, with a sprinkle of new stuff just to say you tried it. However, I never actually take my own advice and end up regretting it later.

Also, the beer options + coffee make it so hard to stick to a case worth of beverages and the price gets out of control quick!

Ya, they are strapped for cash. Of course why not bump up the $ as everyones doing it, costs are up, yadda yadda... But consider that there is no middle man's piece of pie and thier customers have to come TO THEM.

I mean, you have valid points, but the amount of money they're blowing through to expand and enhance the overall experience would probably be shocking. Imagine the cost of the new Saratoga location? 23,000 square feet, plus 11 acres? I have no clue, but I would imagine that project will cost $100m or so?

    Wasn't really my point.

You have an interesting view on what businesses should do, though. You want the store to come to you and not charge enough to cover their costs?

Anyway, I wasn't trying to say that Tree House is on the way to the poorhouse, but I do think it's interesting that people are complaining about prices that have largely gone unchanged for over 10 years. Yes, their ability to scale has allowed them, I'm sure, to run at lesser margins that other smaller breweries, but complaining that they're selling $23 four-packs in 2024 is a bit interesting, given that $23 in today's money equates to a $16 four-pack when they opened. That was my point.

You can harp on Tree House for a lot of things, but accusing them of raising their prices too much may not be one of them.

Nah, going to be a 'Truth' variant. GM will never be released again. It's just going to be an eternal troll like Curiosity 69

    Really
They don't use a distributor and are not in stores. The customer has to go to Treehouse which is signifactantly further away than stores. The cost of distribution (significant) is eliminated but subsidized by your customers. Pure gravy for Treehouse.

Based on Nate's response to a tweet, it's going to be something that's been aged for over 5 years. Trying to think of anything significant. Maybe they put something in barrels during the first month of Charlton opening and they bottled it now?

Does aging a beer that long really do anything notable/enjoyable to it? I am pretty sure I’ve had a few beers from various places that have been aged 3/4/5 years. I can’t recall ever thinking-yeah that was worth a 5 year slumber.

If I was a betting man (and I am) I would say there's a point of diminishing returns, and possibly degredation. I would not spend $55 on this. $25 probably, but that seems to be their base price for Truth and other barrel aged beers, so they had to make it expensive.
