Wasn’t there always seating? The outdoor space isn’t just for Tree House customers. Unless you mean a different area?

If I can weigh in on this whole Cloud Machine/Juice Machine debate. I’ve pretty much have had every iteration of NZ focused DIPA that they done over the last two-ish years in this new wave. Very easy to tell that they didn’t just take one of those and slap the ‘Machine’ label on it. So, grain bill, yeast, process, etc. can definitely tell this is a true attempt at applying the JM process with a novel hop bill.

Went to the new site in Saratoga Springs. Very nice facility. Almost empty on a Wednesday at noon. Super nice personnel.

Tried Cloud Machine a few days ago, it was good but not something I'd buy again. Yeasty and kinda sugary sweet which is a no go for me.

That's a bummer. Does it seem like a different recipe than Deerfield's, or just not well executed?

These 750ml formats need to go. I understand the "sharing" mentality, but big barleywines are not exactly a crowd favorite. I would be much more willing to spend $18 on a 12oz bottle to drink myself, than $40 on a 750 that I would also be drinking myself. Maybe for the stouts since they're a more popular style it's ok, but maybe offer both sizes?

I want the Tree of Perception, but not this format.

We had the Saratoga pizza last night and thought it was above average. Have not had Deerfield.

Yeah, I agree for both styles. Even with stouts I find it hard to have friends at the right time and place to share them. Let alone any family who really gets it. I had brought this up before. There’s even less I want to actually share it with who would appreciate it.

My solution these days is to just get a draft of it if offered or stopper it and have it over two nights.

It's never the same on the second night!

Honestly, it just feels like a big commitment when you open a 750.

Some of you weren't there for the 22 oz bomber days and it shows! LOL. I'm kidding, but seriously remember grabbing bombers of beers? One of my old school favorites was the AleSmith Old Numbskull barleywine and it was iike, "Welp, I guess I'm drinking 22 ounces of a 15% beer tonight." [fact checking myself: it was 11% .. point still stands]

Oh I was there…I was also in my 20s. A beer like was a light snack. Now it’s a four course meal.

They got bigger, it seems. Also was in my 20's. I remember the days of drinking something like a 7% Stone IPA and remarking, "This is like TWO beers!" then proceeding to drink six of them because that was normal. Now I can't imagine how my stomach would feel the next morning.

Mid-2000s I would buy a six pack of Bigfoot or Storm King and be like, “Yeah, this is fine.”

I think it just hits different with the large stouts because as stated before. It is a commitment once opened or you cork it for the next day minus some carb. But also given beers are measured(abv) per 12oz pour, it can be a lot to get through 2+ pours of 11-13% stout if it’s just you. Let alone if you want to have other beer before or after. But yeah, I do remember the days of bombers. I also miss the 6 pack packaging art and bottle days. Sometimes I don’t even want a 16 ounce can these days, but that’s really becoming the only format to an extent.

I'm pretty much done with almost all craft stouts. I used to love Shakespeare Stout, Storm King, Smutty Imperial, Sierra's Stout, Ipswich Oatmeal, and lots of other OG hitters. I don't think anything like those exist any more. Now stout is like drinking a bottle of Hershey Syrup. They should be packaged in 8oz cans.

I also miss a lot of the beers once available in bombers. Anyone remember these? I bought 'em by the case at Yankee back in the day. Such a transformational beer.
