Pretty sure that's the gist of the comments here. As they say, the few usually wreck it for the many. My boys are in their 20's now but we often took them to breweries and restaurants. The philosophy above was always the deal. I personally love seeing families with well behaved kids at breweries.

Yeah that’s a solid place to stay. You can walk to Kooks or Peteys for a cold drink.

Also, anytime you can do Charlton I’d say just do it. Way more space if staying for a bit when outside is an option on a nice day. Also, whatever is released that day is available there. Many times it won’t be at any other location until a day later.

in the grand scheme of things and given you’re heading (I assume) to the mass pike off 495. Having to shoot down 93 and through Tewksbury, off the exit, is a little bit of a detour. It may not seem it, but it kind of is.

I figured it’s hard to pass up Charleton, love Peteys, I’ll have to check out Kooks: it’s walking distance. We are a block up Wallis rd from peteys market

Kooks was opened by a few locals closer to my age with a tiki and surf vibe with a younger crowd. Bar wise it’s right up my alley. Nothing wild most of the time, but less of the tourist trap, 14 road bike groups at a time looking for buckets of bud lite and fried food.

Their social media can be a little, much ha

RIght off the highway is definitely a bit of an exaggeration just to set the expectations. It's 4 miles from the exit off 84 and about 10 miles from the exit off the Mass Pike on the east end. I am in no way discouraging you going, but my wife knows where it is and when we have a full car, unless the Mass Pike is a shit show (in which case you'd end up on 20 anyway) it's not a right off the highway detour.

Haven't been to Charlton in a bit and it's always felt close to the highway. Not that I doubted you but I had to look up for myself that it was 4 miles. It is.

It is a straight shot off the highway though on 20 which is usually pretty easy moving, which you can't really say about Tewksbury.

i will be hitting TH Charlto on a weekday morning next week. ~11AM arrival.

What’s a good spot to grab take-out food nearby? Looking for breakfast sammch or lunch café fare.

also, is a pre-opening line-up a thing any more out there? Haven’t been there for opening hours in probably 8 years. Hoping not.

On a weekday at open, say other than Friday, even then, place will likely be a ghost town when you get there.

the times I've been that early, usually only a few cars waiting in the driveway for the gate to open. Essentially, no wait for anything.

Saw Dust Coffee House in Sturbridge (4-5 miles west on 20) is pretty decent for both breakfast and lunch fare. It's at the road leading to Sturbridge Village, basically in between Yankee Spirits and BT's smokehouse, but on the south side of 20.

Besides Liquid Haze (which I hope is still available on Friday), what are people digging? IPAs and lagers, even coffee, but no stouts.

King Sap. Also Super Sap if it's still available.

Hyperion is a solid west coast DIPA, if you enjoy those. Check the hops though.

Simcoe everything is great but that's my favorite hop so there's some bias there.

Dry hopped house lager is on point. Wasn't a huge fan of "Pizza Party" but Pizza Pils is one of their best lagers.
