They definitely need more IPA and Pale strength beers, in my opinion.

I believe in one of the more "recent" Tree House youtube videos (like within the last few months) Nate made an offhand comment about hoppy beers reaching their "peak" at 3 months old.

I think part of it is him just being a smart businessman and not wanting to tell customers that their beer isn't as good after a few weeks. But the other part is Tree House IPA's just legitimately hold up extremely well.

Ahhhh I thought you might enjoy it. Not a hazy beer spot. That’s the perfect choice right there.

Might as well add a coffee pale lager because, why not?

It’s a stellar week of weather ahead
Our cottage has a 10 foot breakfast bar/ bar bar
Today we are starting off with some coronas and saving about $80 in Kooks tab.
    Cheers!

Haha yup, nothing around here is cheap!

Hoping to take a day this week and hit the beach as well. As well as be in the water all weekend.

Caught that one minutes later lol.

But, my buddy Tom made a coffee lager at Loaded Q with our local roaster(and great owner) La Mulita. I enjoyed it for what it is. So I can’t hate on it. Tipsy Mule was the beer.

Like 15 (13? 14?) years ago, Stone released a coffee IPA that I had a draft pour of. It wasn't bad, if memory serves. Unfortunately, I have no specific sense memory of it. Probably not a style anyone would plan to crush cans of. But hey, why the hell not? Brew up a coffee beer.

I happened to be near Tewksbury yesterday. Thought to myself, "I'll pop in. If it's not packed, I'll grab a couple pours and a four-pack. If it's packed, I'll grab two four packs to go." It was packed, so off to the kiosk I went. There wasn't one pale ale available and very few -- meh, imo -- single IPAs. There were, it seemed, 15 rows of 8.2% double IPAs.

I left with nothing. I went to the store by my house and bought two limes and a 12-pack of Modelo and got drunk by my pool.

I'll echo completely two recent thoughts:

    1. Green is great again (if it ever wasn't). Tropical, sweet, bitter, and soft all at once. Just an incredible beer.

    2. They really should have more pale ales available to go. Lights On, Lights Off, East Hill, etc. have been so dialed in. I only bought four four packs this visit (Green, Alter, Julius, Bird of Passage) but would have happily bought a couple more if they'd had sub-6% hoppy options.

I’ll throw in the “ish” series too. Alter-ish and Juli-ish are excellent. Why are drops of these so infrequent? It sells. And some version of Eureka should always be around. That stuff moves too. People love it!

I don’t understand the endless double IPAs, but hey, I’m not running the business.

I'm guessing the fact they can get like $20+/4pk of many of their DIPAs compared to $14/4pk for pale ales provides incentive to keep their kettles full of the stronger beers. As long as people keep buying them in so much volume, it's gotta be hard not to follow that money.

I got a four pack of Treat (6.7%). I’d definitely buy it again. To me, it’s a very good single IPA.

You would have to assume the cost of production is higher for DIPAs, but yeah, the numbers must add up. I’d love to know the margins. Of course I never will, but it would be fun to know.

I just counted 23 lagers available on the to-go can list so they're putting plenty of capacity into lower ABV/lower price beers. I don't think they have to choose what to brew based on available capacity. I think their menu is probably more reflective of demand than cost of production/profitability. That said, not having Julius on hand this weekend was a problem. I went yesterday with some guys who were also disappointed by its absence

As a general rule, I won't go if they don't have Julius available.

I am also more likely to go when they have Eureka or one of the pale ale's available. Driving on Cape tomorrow or Wednesday and with the list right now, I'm leaning towards not convincing my wife we need a stop. I went both times we drove to the Cape in June and my daughter grabbed a 1/2 case for me on her way off in mid-July. So, had I not been yet this season I might push harder for it, but back to the original point ... the lack of Julius or other core beers is a negative.
