I think Mosaic is just a really temperamental hop these days. It could be tough to make single IPA’s with. I can’t even tell you the last time I bought Trillium, Melcher St. I had cans of those a ways back that was undrinkable. I used to absolutely love Mosaic along with Galaxy. Then Galaxy had its diarrhea days. Now Galaxy is making a nice return.

I personally think Mosaic has gone through changes as well. And I find it at times to almost be offensive and offers that same strange diesel’y taste and scent you get with the weirdest of Nelson. Sometimes it just goes almost chemical to me. Like if you have the dankest and dirties selection of mosaic and weird Nelson dirty sock funk in your glass of beer. Then you take a teaspoon of the whatever the fuck it was white powder from your chemistry set in 1987 and dumped it in. I picture this would be similar for me.

I had a can of Clown Shoes recently and it was pretty much like mosaic flavored bleach.

Could be why we don't see Alter variants so much these days. Can't remember the last time I saw Eureka with Mosaic.

Tipping Point is good but was a bit odd. It's almost like Double Eureka w/Citra. Same color and similar malt profile. Not a ton of flavor but easy drinking for days.

Best CT route depends on your timing and exact starting point in NY. On a Monday on the Merritt or 95 to 91, I do not think you should hit much traffic heading North unless somehow you leave so early that you get to Hartford in the 7:30-9 range. Again, you'd have to be crazy early but 7:30-9 between the NY border and Stamford can be traficky. Another option is to enter CT on 84 and take that all the way to Hartford to meet 91. Similarly, should have no traffic in this direction on a Monday (same early Hartford caveat). Several schools are off that week so traffic should be lighter in CT, in general.

Full disclosure, CT traffic sucks and you never know!

I’m looking at Mud Season or Needles. I’ll buy one or the other.

I just had a Needles. If you like Simcoe, which I do, you’ll enjoy it. I liked it better than Tipping Point. I also just had a Mystery Fern. I would recommend picking that up if you want a double. My favorite of the three ferns I’ve tried.

Went to Sandwich today. Busiest off-season day there I’ve ever seen. Just finding a place to park was burdensome. Tribes of unsupervised children. Honestly, it wasn’t even that fun. There were crying babies and even the faint smell of a dirty diaper. Had a pour of Ice Cold and one of Card Break. Neither is noteworthy.

Ugh, that sounds brutal. We were on the Cape for my daughter’s playoff bball game and there was a thought of maybe stopping by, but after a tough loss we just didn’t really have it in us. Sounds like it would have been really annoying, but still would have been nice to grab some cans

You might have more patience than I do, but I wish we just did a to-go order. Both bars were open, upstairs and down, but upstairs was as a 20 minute line for drinks. Downstairs was no line, just walk up and order. Upstairs had cocktails and downstairs was beer only, which was fine with me. We never even went upstairs. I only know the line upstairs was 20 minutes because the staff told us and encouraged ordering downstairs.

The most entertaining part of the visit was watching a a barefoot, unsupervised 4-year- old charge out onto the beach and tumble directly into and over the yellow sign that warns of the beach’s sharp drop off. I believe the sign says something like, CAUTION - Steep drop off - please supervise children.

Anyway, Persist is back, which I like better than all of Treehouse’s “pure” barrel aged stouts. It’s considerably cheaper too.

Diaper? Are you sure that wasn’t a spontaneous wild ale brewed with too much Brett?

It was the unmistakable smell of baby shit, since you asked.

Memories of old Trillium sours. I believe the notes were "lactic barnyard funk."

Can't remember if they ever did Very Green Machine before -- I think this is the first batch? -- I found it exceptional.

Unfortunately that location just doesn't have the indoor capacity of the others. Seems like that parking lot in the offseason can accomodate more cars/passengers than the facility can comfortably hold. Throw kids into the mix - especially without of low tables for seating - and it's not a great outcome for most.

Visited Tweksbury on Friday night. Grabbed Very Green Machine and Coco Verde will give those a try. Wanted to get the Split the Tree Glasses but they sold out. Had a drought of Oh Danny Boy and was a solid Irish Dry.
