Oh I think it would do quite well too if it were a proper tap room. I've been to Tewksbury more than the Pru I think when I lived the near city. Or at least the same amount. The Pru mostly didn't seem worth it because the options were so limited. I bet Tewksbury is their busiest location too. If you live around that area, where else are you going?
Nightmare? The only problem I've ever had is trying to find stroller parking, lol. But seriously, never had any nightmarish experience there, especially in the warmer months with the outdoor seating options.
TJ Callahan's up the street is a wonderful dive that often books an incredible 80s hair metal cover band called WILDSIDE. The beer options aren't quite on the same level though, so point taken.
Just at Saratoga Springs yesterday. I had a Foster-Thai Barleywine, which I thought was awesome - 15% but I really love Barleywines. ‘it was also 80F, while up here in Vermont, it was below freezing Monday morning
Maybe nightmare is strong? See @DillDoe2002 ’s comment above. Plenty of posts about the birthday parties, lack of tables, parking…etc. there on weekends. I could be wrong though! Haven’t been there in a while on a weekend. Don’t really go out of my way visit. I really enjoy the times I’ve been there on weekdays though.
Hey guys. Anyone have one have any idea how frequently Sequoia is brewed? How likely is it I see it in say, June?
Did a quick search of their Twitter. Looks like maybe once in 2023 (Dec), three times in 2024 (Feb, Oct, Dec), and once in 2025 (Sep). I'd say, more likely than not, no Sequoia in June.
Oh I'm very familiar with the scene there, we just usually get there mid-day and are able to find a place to settle away from the chaos, diapers, crayons, pinatas, etc. It's not Greensboro for sure, but the dizzying array of crispies, hops, and stouts is well worth an occasional binky dropped in my glass. Hell, I even got a free round once after arm-wrestling a toddler.
Ha, yeah I almost tripped over a little one crawling from under a table playing with his race cars. I was carrying two glasses of beer. I hear ya though. Like I said above, I ended up going there more than the Pru because the options are so much better. Notch is like that too on a Saturday afternoon. Both Tree House and Notch staffs do a great job though through the chaos.
I was thinking about this topic recently, and cer7d0nt have any answers. Hill Farmstead was really interested in distribution at the beginning, but multiple people would show up with growlers to fill, bought lots of bottles to bring to their restaurants, etc. Treehouse appears to have prevented this. No growlers, few larger bottles, mainly cans? I think with Covid, market dynamics, their remoteness, HF has been forced to do some distribution. Alchemist is somewhere in-between. There were willing to distribute to a degree, sent out cans, but, I think, didn’t distribute kegs. These restricted supply and kept interest and demand high. Lawson’s partnered with Two Roads In Connecticut and has aggressively distributed, and is widely available. My local brewer, Fiddlehead, very aggressively distributes, has a terrible tasting room, but is now the biggest VT owned brewery. ‘Is the biggest difference between HF and TH the scale of Massachusetts vs. Vermont? I agree that TH has a nice model going, but in this day of decreasing craft beer sales, can they keep it going?
Strolling through old pictures and I found this. Won 1 of the 2 bottles that were given trough a donation that got you one of those Fair tickets. Remember Dean announcing it and getting bombarded with cash and bottle for it all the way to the car. I also think it was the last time I went to the small taproom shed too. Good times.
I may be in the area tomorrow. Is it logistically feasible to get a to-go-order & 1 - 2 drafts within an hour?
For Tewksbury, absolutely. Especially if earlier in the day- the draft lines move nice and quick. They have kiosks in the taproom where you can order to-go cans, or you could still order through the website and set pickup within the hour- then just pull your car around outside to the to-go parking area and they will bring it right out. The days of an hour-plus line seem to be well in the past.
Nate’s right. Treehouse beers really do hit a sweet spot around 3 to 4 weeks. This 3/23 can of juicy machine is really showing its stuff right now.
Boston Beer Co? No. The rest of Fanueil Hall? Yes. https://www.boston.com/news/local-n...eeds-a-shot-of-adrenaline-its-businesses-say/
